I've noticed one of the problems I'm having with this is, If I start the first section on a downstroke (as you normally would) there is more inside picking when traversing the strings. I'm experimenting with starting on an upstroke and doing Ben's inside outside picking lesson to get better at inside picking too!

I'll try and post a clean take of it at 170 bpm tomorrow so you can give feedback

Great decision. Yeah, the best is to be able to cross string smoothly in both ways. Curiously I find outside picking more difficult because the distance is longer when you want to pick the following string.

Excellent analysis mate! This track is very clear and the only irregular sections are the part c (or bridge) and the coda. It seems that they followed the lyrics in part C, but it really works... it's a dramatic take that makes tension grow to explode in the chorus.

The idea is that you keep this analysis and keep on working on new songs, these concepts will start being incorporated in your mind at the moment of composing a song...

I found it really useful and I was amazed how focused I had to be to really listen to what was going on. As I do more of this I hope I'll be able analyse the bass and drum parts more

Sure! and don't forget the vocals. How composers (sometimes the singers) create the melodies, what notes they use over each chord and how the rhythm is worked.

Hey Gab, even though I've changed my focus to a more American Roots Rock type thing, I'd still value your guidance and mentoring.

Especially as I start to work on things like hybrid picking which while I'm a fairly good fingerpicker is completely knew to me.

I'm working on Blues-Lines

I'm not much of a John 5 fan, but I've heard some of his stuff.

I'm looking at players like David Grissom, Marc Ford, Tom Bukovac as well as the country shredders out there, so a mix of blues rock, country and soul.
