So I just got GR5 and am getting a little overwhelmed. I can't get playback to come through my laptop, hell I don't even know if it is connect right. I got the version with the foot pedal and hooked it up exactly as the manual said and nothing is coming out.

Eventually I'll need to get it hooked up with Garageband as well. Does anyone know what to do?

Hi man! if everything is connected right, there must be a setting section in Guitar Rig where you can select your sound card and the drivers that you want to use. Have you checked it?

I have. I selected built-in output and there is absolutely no sounds coming from my laptop. The foot-pedal that I have connected to my computer is reading that it's got an input and output signal but there is no sound coming from the laptop.

Just bought and hooked up external speakers and am getting nothing out of them...

I'm uploading a YouTube video right now so that you all can see my problem in hopes that I might get some assistance from someone who knows Guitar Rig 5.

Stay Tuned.

Edit: Here is my issue video.

First things first. The entire thing won't work right UNLESS YOU HAVE USB 2.0 so make sure your laptop supports USB 2.0 by looking up the model on the vendor web site or digging in to your control panel smile.gif Once thats sorted, check this link for the instructions on setting up Guitar Rig 5.

Hope this helps smile.gif

This might sound basic but it is very often overlooked : to get sound from Guitar Rig 5, you need to connect your speakers directly to the output of your sound card interface, in this case the controller that came with Guitar Rig. Your laptop has a different audio card which is not connected to your guitar and when you plugin the external interface via usb, that interface becomes your audio card so your internal laptop audio card has no use anymore. Speakers must be connected to the new audio card to be able to hear sound.

Please let me know if this was the issue maybe?

Yes, Bogdan is right, controller is a sound card also ! This manual is ok in case you don't have a controller, but since you have it you should have set that option under Driver window,AudioCore is internal sound card !

You need to set the device to rig control 3, and hook your speakers up to the rig control 3 or use head phones that are connected to the rig control 3.

Guys I'm sorry for how ridiculous this has been! I never realized that it was a soundcard because I honestly never really realized what a soundcard does for this stuff.

I need to get an adapter today for my speakers in order to plug them into Rig Kontrol 3. I'll get back with you all soon to update on progress.

Well guys y'all helped me to get it working! Thanks so much.

I'm only able to hear out of one speaker because the two speakers are connected through one plug allowing me to only hear through one channel. Either way, it works! Thanks guys!

Once you have it set up properly you should be able to use guitar rig inside your DAW (launch the daw first, then guitar rig as a plugin once you've armed a track to record and turned on the monitoring button and such say in REAPER). That way you can start recording, mixing, etc.

Your "Rig" for recording can be as simple as your laptop and your kontrol interface and some headphones. It will expand from there smile.gif There are wads of vids and and such (some already posted) to help you get the basics down and once you do, your in to the wonderful world of home recording.

Whatever your computer is connected to (if anything) for monitors can serve as the output for guitar rig/reaper etc. THats how I work smile.gif direct to interface then monitor through KRK speakers. If you are only hearing one speaker your missing half the tone since gr is stereo. Onward!

Right now this and getting the pedal board that GR5 comes with working are my next issues. I can get GR5 ready to record in Garageband but it cuts off my pedal board and acts simply as a passage between the guitar and the computer rather then a fully set up effects pedal.

As for the one speaker, until I get speakers with separate output jacks I'm stuck with what I've got (but what I've got doesn't even sound so bad!)
