I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this question, but I don't know who else to ask, so I figured it would be worth a shot. My amp has a built in tuner, so I was going to tune my guitar about an hour ago and it wouldn't play through my amp. After looking at it a little, I realized that I screwed up the input jack on my guitar somehow. Is there an easy way to fix that? Because with Christmas and the fact that I'm a kid without a job means I'm a bit short on money. If I could fix that myself could you try to explain how, or will I just be better of taking it to a shop when I get some money? If the latter, feel free to just say so.

You should better take your guitar to luthier, if u don't have experience with repairing parts.Or if u have someone in the family with wire-ing tool, ask him to help you. I don't think it can be that expensive, i pay around 1 $ here for repairing , wire-ing cables and stuff

If you don't have money, I think that this would be easily fixed by a guy with some experience (technician, electronic engineer). By the way, the reparation cost should be very big.

How's it going?

I have a quick question in regards to pickups and my PRS SE guitar. I noticed you have a PRS SE and I was wondering if you have had a similar issue.

I have a PRS SE 24TH Anniversary Custom 24 and I love the feel an sound of it, but the stock pickups (SE HFS Treble Humbucker and SE Vintage Bass Humbucker) are too weak for metal. However, I love the tonal characteristics I get from playing this guitar like the articulation from the chords. I would like to retain the tonal characteristics I get from the current setup, but upgrade to pickups with a stronger signal for metal style music. I was wondering if I should upgrade to a higher quality brand of PRS pickup? Or if I choose another brand, like Bare Knuckle, would I sacrifice the PRS tonal characteristics for a stronger signal?

OK. I have one. How do we build arpeggiated chord progressions, using one (or more open strings) and, having just a few hand changing shapes and actually moving that certain shape around the neck ? (Think Scorpions - Still Loving You)
Then, building a vocal melody over that pattern. And singing it over Now that might not be a tough job for some, or maybe !
I always loved arpeggiated chord progressions, but never get to making a real progression or something due to my extremely limited chord knowledge.
What's your approach to that Cos ?

Hey mate Tough because there's a lot to tell and you need a lot of background covered I tried to shoot as easy as possible and not lose you along the way. Hope it makes sense:

The thing is, there's no shortcut here.. you need to understand theory in order to build these things It's not like a magic formula or something, but you should take time to understand this amazing language that music is. You will then be able to write, play and sing without any problem whatsoever

Wonder if you can help me out? Im 99% done with your Pirate Metal lesson! That's taught me so much, with helping with my alternate picking, string skipping (00:16 to 00:29 nearly killed me, but i got there!) and left/right hand co-ordination.

Would you mind going though a little theory in that lesson? How you came up with the melody, how it all fits together? That would seriously help me out. One thing i find hard is understanding what is going on under the hood.

PS - please can we have Pirate Metal II or something as speedy and melodic? :-)
