Nope didn't think so either. We all know parents don't get this.

I can show you how to be the virtuoso your folks could only dream about, but I first need your help:

* Pm me and I will show you where to start. I am online every day and I will help you out directly!

* Join my mentoring program. I will customize your learning experience in a way you haven't experienced before. We will have regular contact so that you can remain inspired every day and eventually reach a new level.

* Join my next video chat! GMC startpage holds a video chat schedule. We always cover a lot of ground and have fun. Remember that you don't need any previous knowledge, and you can be passive in the chat.

* Jam with me - you will find active collabs here.

* Post a topic on this board, guitar related or not - doesn't matter! You will find that chatting with instructors boosts your motivation to practice.

* You haven't missed my latest video lessons, have you?

* Oh and did you know that to become a killer guitarist you just need to focus on one thing? Everything
else is secondary. Pm me and I will explain.

Hi Cosmin

Thanks for the video! I'll work on these suggestions and get this happening!

I thought that seeing that you are heading off for a holiday, I'd make a quick video. I want to make sure I've got it right before I jump in and relearn the technique.

I've still got to slow it down and work on the efficient movements, but think I have the thumb and the pick angle sorted out. Is this roughly how it should be??
It does move a lot smoother!

Thanks again, and have a great holiday!

Tim

Ahoy matey!

Yes, this is it wink.gif It looks good, even though it feels a bit weak, but you will get the hang of the right tension - try to stay as relaxed as possible, as otherwise, when the speed increases, you will have to battle tenseness.

Keep me posted smile.gif

Great!

Ill get to work on it then! It will take some getting used to but I'm sure it will pay off!
One more quick question. While I'm relearning picking, How should I be holding the pick for rhythm playing. e.g Fast metal alternate picking ?
At this similar angle? or is there something else I'm Missing??

Tim

Hey Cosmin,

A quick vid, I didn't watch it till after I uploaded it, and it wasnt quite what I was aiming for. My bad! Still gives you a rough idea of where I'm up to.

Still a lot of work to go on this whole picking theme. Especially on the left hand movements
What are your thoughts??

Hey mate smile.gif

Out of what I am seeing, things got a lot better - now, it's all a matter of patience and hard work - don't forget to relax and move as little as possible while playing. That's how I see it and that's how I did it smile.gif

Hi Cosmin

Merry xmas! Hope you had a good one!

I found a little time to get a rec done. most of the lessons i'm working on are so close to be being rec'd, but theyre just outside of my playining ability. So to get rid of the frustration, I looked for some easier lessons (difficulty 3-4) to work on. Im finding these "EASY" ones aren't that easy to get just right.I want to work on some more fundamentals techniques as some are lacking for me. Im finding that my timing is a bit off sometimes and my playing can be quite sloppy. I really want to tighten up my playing. No point playing fast if sounds like shit!

This one was a little tricky to get right. playing slow can be bit difficult. Especially getting the groove on this one. but im pretty happy how this turned out.
Ive got a couple more"easy" ones on my list, but if you have any others or suggestions, let me know

Oh, I guess I'll throw it up on the recs page, just to keep up appearances!

Hey Tim! This one sounds very good and your choice was also an inspired one smile.gif It's no use to stay stuck - mentally speaking - on something that will eventually cause frustration. Work on them steadily and they will most surely be ready when the time comes. You are usually a very conscious guy and your playing is great, so it's just a matter of time and practice before you will jump the hurdle.

I am waiting to grade this one and in the mean time - can you show me what others you had in mind? smile.gif

Hey Cosmin,
It was getting a bit tiring to keep going over the same old lessons, a feeling of moving forward will do good I think.
Here are the others I started

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Altern...king-Workout-2/
To reinforce my my picking technique, and to tidy up my string-crossing and tighten up too

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-gu...r2-palm-muting/
To get my timing better, I find that slow grooves can be quite tricky

And a few others I had in mind for the future

Hey there Tim!

This looks like a very balanced selection smile.gif It's never a bad idea to work on diversifying your playing vocabulary at a level you can already grasp with a bit of focus on work, rather than bashing your brains on stuff which requires a lengthier time and a lot of patience. Not that it would not be a good idea to push your limits - by all means - but the feeling of accomplishment when studying means a lot and is a strong motivator!

Send me your recordings and I will gladly share my thoughts! In the mean time, I wish you a happy new year and lots of health, luck, strength and wisdom!

Hi Cosmin

Thanks for the new years wishes! The same to you, and hope you had a good one!
one
A quick rec to start the year, an easy one but still challenging to keep the slow groove I think. As easy as it may seem, I still find it hard to keep my playing spot on and clean through out the whole thing. I've really noticed this a lot latley while Recording the Slash track. Its not the hardest track, but recorded guitar doesn't lie. My ears on the other hand do!
So I definitely want do more of these fundamentals lessons to really get my playing solid

Ive got a couple of the others close to rec, so I should have more to post by the weekend!

Hello Tim! smile.gif

Indeed man smile.gif Balance is not a thing to toy with and playing slow is as difficult as playing fast a lot of times.

This one sounds good and balanced out of what I can hear. If you like it as well, why not take it to the REC? Watch out, there are times in which our ears deceive us into thinking that something doesn't have the proper balance. I know what I want to hear in my head, but somehow after I record, I feel like there's something which is not yet ok. Can't really put my finger on it, but I can hear it. The next day... presto. It's there smile.gif and it seems ok. My advice to you is to listen to your recordings the next day first thing in the morning when the ears are not tired wink.gif See how it feels and let me know smile.gif

Hey Cosmin

I posted the Rec, Already got a couple of 10s for it, so everyone seems to like it. Nice to see!

I'll keep the leaving it till the next day to judge a recording in mind when I do some more work on the track. A lot of the time though its an obvious timing issue or string noises, ect.. But sometimes that "perfect" take still doesn't sound right! I'll try your suggestion next time.

See you round
