I think it's a very good purchase for the prcze (second hand price)

Sound pretty nice and warm at default settings. When rolling down the presence the tone is still bright enough but with absolutely no harsh frequencies. I was pretty impressed. Very good tone for small pubs - won't hurt the audience who will listen directly from the amp and the bass response will be boosted by the room. Including those two factors it could really do the job. Low mids are the basis here so it breaks through the drums well. Funny thing...presence knob work opposite to clockwise. E606 was my personal preference for the type of tone I wanted to get. One thing that doesn't suit me is the dynamics....it's great amp for heavy rocking but I don't like how it acts on low gain and low guitar volume pot settings.I mis the fullness and bite I'm used to have with the amps I owned. Anyway for some particular players this little unit has a right to be smile.gif

Ah rad. Is marshall reissuing them?

I had a JCM900 50w for a while. dug it. Great rock head. This seems similar.

The SLX series is great for a higher gain stuff.

I think the 900s get a bum rap sometimes, but EVERYONE had them in the early 90s.

True man! A lot of us had it smile.gif Same as You I really dig the SLX version smile.gif There are many anti-marshall people outthere but we have to admit...it's a classic part of rock history smile.gif I like to advice a kind of those (like that 50W combo) to my students for their first valve amp.

I think it's better to buy used JCM900 for around 500$ than a new, chinesse series...Already had a few of those broken before they even got sold to a customer (pre-sale)/ Those old was seemed to have much less of serious failures

Totally agree. My 900 was a champ. Before I sold it, it was giving me some odd sounds in the reverb, which stopped working a long time ago. But as long as I kept the reverb volume down it was find. The guy I sold it to hit me back the next day and said it had the wrong tube in it which is what was making some noise rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif . (not sure when this happened)

I recorded a band yesterday and the guitarist had a Bugera 1990 head which I IMMEDIATELY recognized as a JCM900 knockoff. It worked out pretty well, though like you said, for the same amount of money, you can get a good one for used.
