I'm not sure our societies allow character building to happen during childhood anymore, everything thing is overly pc and wraps kids in cotton wool so they don't learn how to deal with losing, failiure, social situation etc

I've heard parents talking about this same thing now that you mention it. Did you know that kids sports leagues like T-Ball and such no longer keep score in many cases? The funny thing is, the kids keep score themselves despite there being no official record That really struck me when I heard it. Sports games with no score? That's not a game, that's practice The game is sorta where you find out who practiced.
