I like where you are going with your bits! However, I think your guitar may be either out of tune or in need of intonation?

P.S. I FORGOT TO MENTION THE LIGHTING DESIGN! smile.gif

*The secret sauce to making your vids pop!

I'm using a "Two Tone" lighting scheme to make things look a bit less flat. Using monochromatic lights (e.g. just white fill light) can sometimes give off the vibe of a news cast or infomercial. So I'm always playing around lights/colors etc.

I"m using a very COOL hue on the background that is accentuated by the little red LED lights on the pedals and a very warm hue in the foreground on the guitar to bring out the red.

I'm using very very very cheap LED light bulb that change color and come with a remote control. They are about $5 U.S. each. You can get them anywhere online that you'd buy light bulbs. If you are not already, try playing with your lighting design!
Attached Image

WHAT NOT TO DO!!!
*Here is an example of REALLY BAD lighting.
-Flat
-Dim
-shadows
-uggh.
Attached Image

Often, having a well light/interesting still frame is what will determine if folks click on your vid or not So hit em hard!

Endorsements never hurt either!!! I'd say go for it smile.gif Some free or discounted go pro would be great!!! They are lighter than a cell phone so they are easier to mount. The trouble with using a cell phone is that sometimes they are too heavy and pull the mount/clamp out of it's ideal position. Better for use at home. But on stage especially the go pro is the thing smile.gif

I really hope they make the next revision with a simple firewire or thunderbolt port on it so it can work as a direct record/web cam/hd device!!!

At home I've gotten really used to recording directly from my camera to my hard drive. I don't shoot/transfer files/edit.I just shoot/edit. smile.gif I capture from camera to hard drive and it's very handy! Not being able to do that with a DSLR is why I ended up taking the DSLR back. Not to mention no remote control zoom lense smile.gif

This collab vid for example, recorded directly to hard drive via firewire smile.gif

Congrats! Very spiff riffage smile.gif The tone works just fine as well. What did you use for the tone? I gather you were going for a fairly dry, minimally distorted plexi/rock tone?

Hey mate, it looks like there's something wrong with the track - it doesn't play when I push the button and Soundcloud shows an error when I am trying to access it in the link as well.. Can you please check and see what's going on? smile.gif Thank you!

Hey mate! I like the tone as well - it sounds nothing like Maiden! biggrin.gif Originality is always best, especially when it fits the track you are playing. If you allow me to make a suggestion, I think that you need to involve a bit more dynamic in the take, by implementing a few runs/licks more towards the end of the actual take (in that way, the direction and structure will have a natural flow - less notes growing into more notes wink.gif ), based on some techniques that the guys in Iron Maiden are using. I think you can draw some inspiration if you follow this lesson:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...-maiden-lesson/

The licks in here are not too difficult and they involve a little bit of usage of 16th note runs which would spice up your take wink.gif Looking forward to the next version, Alisson!

Intonation is good. Checked it right away. I think it was slightly out of tune, I'm going to record a new version anyway.

Good idea smile.gif Looking forward to it! Once you get it tracked, give it a careful listen to see if you hear any bits that sound a pinch "off". Sometimes, after hearing a track/take over and over, it's tough to give it a final listen before posting, but it's always a good idea smile.gif

P.S. How are you checking your intonation? I'd be curious to hear how everybody checks theirs? I'm sure methods vary smile.gif

The way I check intonation is: tune the guitar. Then play a natural harmonic on the 12th fret and check on the tuner if it's in tune.

Hi Jeroen, I also hear the tuning issues that appear here and there in your take. It's a pity because the musical idea is really good!

A fine technique!! I'd also throw in, try just a simple 1 and 5 two note power chord on the fifth fret then on the 15th fret for each pair of strings. I've seen guitars intonate to the 12th fret then fail the chord test. I"ve actually got a couple of guitars that just won't intonate properly sad.gif

Good luck with that mate! The ideas are very nice, just make sure the axe is in fine tuning and also, there's a little note at the end of the first part - around 0:19 - which is a bit off in respect to timing. Will you develop more or are you planning on recording the exact ideas presented in the Soundcloud link?

Digging it smile.gif But it still sounds a bit out of tune? Do you guys hear it? I'm not sure if the notes are simply a bit out of key or if the tuning is a bit flat? Sometimes just adding some vibrato can smooth things out. Maybe try using vibrato on all the notes that are held?
