Sounds interesting, can't wait to see more demos with the sound users get from it.

I wonder, when is software modeling going to catch up? I don't understand why modern PC/Mac with a good sound card can't do things like Kemer and Axe FX do. Do those units have any very specific hardware that makes this possible or...?

Maybe the hardware of those units and their "format" make it profitable vs software only solutions which are always under the danger of piracy. Going for the "hardware" approach they protect their investment and can justify the research/development costs.

The way things are going, software modeling is probably the future and sounds will just become better and better and closer to the real thing. It wouldn't surprise me if in 10 years we'd wear watches that can do full marshal stack sound which is same as the "Real thing" smile.gif

Computers main problem is (because of coding) they can't use much power because of latency. Even the newest axe fx as far as I know has 2 chips and one is dedicated to decrease latency.

They can code to sound just like axe fx but then it cannot be plug and play, would only be good for doubling I guess. I use a studio type plug-in called nebula, best sounding eq's imho but it really uses too much cpu as even the best computers can't handle. For a while now cause of complain they decreased the plug-in's power as many are impatiant these days smile.gif

Another problem worth mentioning is programmers in plug-in world actually don't know sound aesthetics much smile.gif they can do great digital eq's etc. but for replicating analog they can't use their ears so must trust too much on science. Musicians can only help in limits as they don't know coding so not much can be done in out side expect like making presets...

I think its always better to create tone rather than trying replicate as a guitar player. Expectations are endless but its possible to be happy with whats available smile.gif

Believe it or not, both the KEMPER and the AXE FX are actually computers, running software. They are proprietary, sure, and so is the software. But the guts are made of commodity chips that you can easily buy in the open market. The tricky bits are their custom written software.

Modern plugins are doing the same thing that kemper/axe are doing, but perhaps not always doing it quite as well. However, with some serious tweaking, you can get some amazing tones out of your fave plugins, just like you can out of your fave axe/kemper/11 rack etc.

The AXE FX is running the same type of dedicated media chips that are used by other hardware accellerators to do various things. For example, UNIVERSAL AUDIO products that are very popular with pro and hobbyist alike for recording/mixing, use the same SHARC DSP chips as the AXE FX. So you could have an AXE FX on a daughter card that lives inside your PC or connected via Thunderbolt (just like the universal audio products) to your computer. If you open the AXe fx, the box is mostly empty space. So yeah, you could put it on a card, or in a small box for user with a computer. smile.gif

Downloaded, 32-bit windows is 175 mb. setup file. Everything is open to test but there is a sweep sound while in demo mode so don't expect to record anything with it tongue.gif

First impressions are the GUI doesn't do justice to me, not great but not terrible. menu system needs a bit getting used to, while testing I didn't notice I was clipping it as the meter is small. The protective limiter sucks so don't clip it smile.gif

Very distortion oriented but can do cleans well too(cleans that dist. guys tend to like), on headphones generally it sounded a little too low-middy to me but I only did a quick test. I think I like the amps but not sure yet about the IR's (will test with different ir's).

Oh in can also open other plug-ins inside it, huge benefit imho.

tons of options though...will take time to understand it, let me know what you guys liked smile.gif

Tested cloning tones smile.gif it really works well but when teaching it strum just like in the video, only one strum and waiting won't teach it good enough.

Besides classic/acoustic guitars there's strat, LPs, tele's...and the sound pretty convincing. For strat, tele tone if user is humbucker user teach it with split or parallel switch position as note separation is better (like a strat...).

Also shredded a little more, the feel is there as response is quick but there's still something I can't put my finger on that bothers me. Oh and for lead tone go easy on gain, the amps have way more gain "tone" than anything I've tested till now! smile.gif
