Hi friend, how are you?
Thanks for sharing your music here. I find it very nice to hear. I like the overall feeling of those ideas. There is some darkness and melancholy behind those compositions, and the names reflects the same vibe. You have a very good sense of melody and harmony. These are 2 essentials for any composer. I think that the next step would be one of these: - Recording drums and bass using a VSTi, like Ezdrummer and Trillian, in order to make the songs sound more completed. This will also make you want to work a bit more on guitar arrangements, define even more structure (add parts lacking and repetitions), and maybe add some other instruments (maybe some synth or orchestral?). - Joining a drummer and a bass played and start working on the songs at a rehearsal room. This can be less "comfortable" at first, but you won't imagine how interesting can become a demo arranged by musicians that are good with their instruments. The possibilities will be much expanded. In other words, you are doing a great job, now it's time to add the other instruments to make it sound as a complete song. -------------------- My lessons

Great to know that you are recovered! Be careful and take care of it.
For recording bass, the best option is getting a bass. You won't get such a full sound with a plug in. However, as these are mainly demos, you could use a virtual bass by the way. Trillian is the best option I know. There are some midi interfaces or midi guitars that let you play on guitar and make it sound like any virtual VSTi that works with midi. Check out these products: http://jamorigin.com/products/midi-guitar/ http://www.ausmidi.com/G2M.html About synths and orquestral sound, there are lots of possibilities but these are the ones that I use: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/philharmonik/ http://www.massivesynth.com/ Also, let me know if you need help with EZdrummer. -------------------- My lessons

I think will be cheaper to get a bass, even if not an awesome one just to make some difference in here For ezdrummer that would be awesome, I though it would suggest based on the song (maybe asking to much, lol) so I'm not sure how to use it Yes - getting a cheap bass to play on your recordings would make a huge difference and should be a smoother solution. VST doesn't work really well emulating bass sound, it can deliver but you need to do a lot of tweaking of the midi tracks and VST instrument to achieve realism in the bass tracks. Please let me know if you need any suggestions when it comes to basses -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

Hi Mataal. EZdrummer is not as tricky as it seems. The easier way to start using it is using the loops included with the package. This lets you choose the one that you like, copy it as many times as you want and then edit the groove and fills if it's necessary.
In order to help you, I would need to know which multitrack you are using to record your songs... Reaper? Cubase? Logic? By the way, I don't own it but it seems that the new version of EZdrummer has a great "tap" function that makes things so easy, check out this video: Please tell e exactly what problems you have with the EZdrummer, let me know if you can open it, if you can make it sound, and also if you know where the grooves are and if you know how to send them to the timeline. -------------------- My lessons

Going to watch video now, the thing is to use the tap 2 find I need to have idea of the drums to search for possible mixtures that match the music, will play a little with it @Gabriel: I use GarageBand @Cosmin: Thanks Cosmin, going to play a little with drums in EZDrummer, even if working with drummer comes something different I can at least exercise a little with it Well, as everything related to making music, this needs some practice. Cosmin's idea is the best way to go in order to become better at drum programming. Most of my knowledge about composition and arranging is based on analyzing and transcribing my favorite songs, and even not my favorites but those that I find interesting. Programming the drum track of some songs with midi will make you understand the way drums are arrangements, it will add ideas to your "drum grooves and fill library". You could even save your favorite grooves and fills to use them as starting points in your own compositions. Besides Cosmin's steps, I would like also to add that it's a good plan to see how drums relates with other instruments of the song. See how it relates to bass, guitar and also with vocals. Check when it follows those instruments and when it not, and how... Write down your ideas on a notepad, compare songs and take your own conclusions. -------------------- My lessons

You guys have an interface or simply use the mouse to click on drums parts? Mouse all the way mate You can do it with a MIDI keyboard that you plug in and assign various percussion elements to each key on the keyboard. I have a friend that writes drums this way - it looks like he plays piano I think Todd knows a bit more on the topic, but at a first glance, I would recommend a look here: http://www.musicradar.com/news/tech/the-13...eyboards-565848 |

I have a midi controller (m-audio Oxygen25) but I honestly use much more my mouse and the copy, paste and duplicate options. I'm more comfortable and faster with it.
I write with my mouse using the key editor / piano roll section at Cubase: -------------------- My lessons

Ok, getting a little better with ezdrummer, nothing like spending some time with things
Now, maybe you guys can help me out, I'm not getting the guitar sound that would like, either bias or guitarrig, for example this one https://soundcloud.com/mataal/regret/s-ekx4I , forget the typos, it's about the sound , I see great sound in videos with both apps so my question is: is this sound because of my playing (if it is, any tips about it?) or can it be the interface that connects the guitar to computer (native instruments komplete audio 6)? When I try to put down the distortion as Marco said if sounds even worst Cheers |
