Ok, so here is my elevator pitch:

There is a bunch of talented musicians here and at least a handfull of them ought to have a song that is just aching to get finished and released on a record in a project of some sorts.
Well this is the project for that.
My plan is to release the album on Spotify & iTunes through my production company.

So what is the project?
Well I'm a singer first and foremost so it would be me doing the vocals.
I have a close connection to the bassplayer of Bloodbound (having a couple of music projects going, and living next door to each other) so my plan is to incorporate him on bass (also it's a nice boost when promoting the songs).
Since most of you have your own recording gear all this would be easy to stitch together over the internet.

But what genre then?

Well there are a few options here. Do we want to go for it and capitalize on the connections I have? That is using Anders (Bloodbound) on bass and calling in favors to have guest appearences from Markus and Karl in powermetal/vikingmetal band Gormathon (guitars and bass).
In that case we should go in the direction of power metal, but on the more heavy side of the spectrum.

Or we could just go in any other direction.
I'm just really psyched about working together with other driven songwriters.

So any takes on this?

(might not have been the best elevator pitch since I'm writing this while I'm pretending to work wink.gif )

Personally, I"M ALL FOR IT!!! smile.gif I'd say maybe keep it as open as possible and let as many folks contribute as you can. You might get 3 or 4 submissions for a given solo section. You could then just pick the one that works best. Same for the other bits. Let folks submit a take for drums/bass/etc. and put the best bits together wink.gif

In short, I"M IN!!

Todd

This idea sounds great!! I'm also in! I enjoy playing and creating Thrash Metal lines and riffs so count with me and keep me updated about the progress and how to organize things. Great initiative!

Great!

We need a starting point.
I have a few old ideas that could be dissmantled and put together with better riffs. I someone would like to look at, or if someone has a good riff or staring point.

Oh, and one more thing. To promote the album I would like to do at least one video.
How do you do this with people all over the world?
Well green-fucking-screen ofcourse smile.gif

To see some of my other video work check out:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyCrihtqhXU (video directed and edited by me. The song kind of sucks but TKU is a cult punk band from Sweden. This was a single released as charity to support a skateboard house in one of Sweden's major cities. The video cost us..... $ 0. I just moved around the big lights and made it look like we had a budget.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWl-TfTjimA (this is a look at how we did the effects for a video with Taleswapper, this is all greenscreen work and done quickly in an afternoon.)

Sounds like a plan!! So whats the first song?

Here are two old songs I never did anything with: https://soundcloud.com/taleswapper-1/breath...on-broken-glass and https://soundcloud.com/taleswapper-1/dont-cry-in-the-rain

These are old demos I have lying around on my computer with two songs I think have potential. However they both lack in the overall composition. I do believe they both have good choruses (and the second one has a good pre-chorus as well), the first is a semi-ballad and can certainly be freshened up. The second one have verses that suck, but I had writers block, so they are just filler to get a sense of structure and to record the good parts.
These are recorded about ten years ago, and are just simple demos, so my singing is better now and when not just simple one-takes.

But both of these are just what I have laying around (can probably find some other old stuff as well) and to get the ball rolling, please feel free to ignore them if you have better ideas smile.gif I'm open to virtually anything (and these are not in the thrash genre, which is were I've done most of my work).

Here is another demo of a song never released on an album, this is a heavier song and I like most of it, the chorus is a bit bland though https://soundcloud.com/taleswapper-1/sibyl-vane

I would say pick the one you feel has the most potential and which you feel like working on and either find the old files or record new ones.

For the sake of ease, I'd suggest using REAPER so that everyone can load the project files and work on them smile.gif Reaper is free for everyone and easy to use so it's a good bet smile.gif

Looking forward to it!
