I finally got around to doing a video explaining my approach to using speed bursts - in my opinion, the most effective way of building speed. This can be applied to all techniques too. The key is to spend time in the Zone - that area where you're asking your hands (and brain) to work at a higher pace than normal.

When you play so fast and you go from one string to another with your pick, do you change the angle of your wrist or do you move your complete underarm and the angle of your wrist is all the time the same? (I can't see it exactly in the video)

Nice one Ben. Have applied this burst technique over the last few days, Im amazed at how well it works. On reflection its seems kind of obvious but I guess its always small little adjustments that make a difference when you've been at something a while. Have to say in the short time I've been on GMC Ive picked up a lot of helpful tips.

I've found if you add "Chunks" to "Bursts" things start to really line up.... Chunking is a lot like Bursting but subtly different in that it kinda puts the focus at starting points of .... lets say a burst, or triplets or whatever. I've been chunky bursting for the last few days and it is really effective

I'd say that my wrist moves and the forearm rotates along with it in order to get the pick clear of the strings.

Yeah that sounds about right.. I don't really know what chunking is. I did watch the Troy Grady stuff but I've forgotten that bit. But skimming that video, yeah that's what I do
