Thanks Mertay,

I'm not using it at the moment, waiting for Thomann to get back to me. At the moment I'm just using the GT-001 directly into the Scarlett wink.gif

Cheers, I'll keep you informed.

The GT in the scarlett will work just fine hopefully smile.gif The peavey is starting to sound like more trouble that it's worth. Old tube amps are sorta like old cars, eventually folks sell them or learn a LOT about working on tube amps/old cars smile.gif

Thanks Todd,

The GT001 is working fine into the Scarlett I just miss having the GT100 going into my Peavey FX loop and being able to physically twiddle all of the knobs on the Peavey, I was really getting to like the amp and only using the fx in the GT100 but the GT001 is ok.

Thing is the Peavey isn't an old tube amp, it's not even a year old. What was really odd about it the other evening is that when I stopped playing BOTH lights went red and when I started again they went green. It was as though it went into standby when I wasn't playing. Thomann haven't got back to me yet sad.gif

Cheers buddy.

Funny thing is if it were old tech maybe it wouldn't have a problem cause my guess its trying to protect itself where it shouldn't biggrin.gif

tubes don't age fast, for home use they can last many years (dies slowly, the point is from sweet till muddy) thats why my guess is the probelm is somewhere else in the circuit.

1 Year old is practically new for tube amp. I think you guys are right it's trying to protect itself from something. Just as a guess, try trimming the output of the gt001 a bit? if the output is too loud on the gt, then the inputs on the amp might try to protect it. Honestly it's a bit mysterious. Also odd that it's been fixed once and is already broken again. sad.gif

Thanks Todd but it does the same with the guitar plugged straight into the front, no GT100 attached.

The English page when you click on the British flag still links to the German contact details. Unless I'm missing something.

This entire thing with peavey amp seems just frustrating as heck. I've not seen peavey amps be this twitchy before. Sadly, yours may have been damaged in shipping or something because it's just behaving in a bizarre manner, even after you sent it back once. I think they owe you a new amp.

I have sent more emails this week, no reply. I know they read one of my emails on Saturday 1st October because I put a "read request" on it and they clicked it.

I have sent another one today and am currently emailing Peavey UK to see if they can help me out.

If I get no joy I'm going to get one of THESE or one of THESE. Probably the second one as I think the 18watt 30th anniversary are getting rare.

Not happy with Thomann AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were great with the first repair but now, no replies at all. RUBBISH.

I'm sure you'll solve this somehow as you did with the PRS before.

My only suggestion is given what you've been through, probably something not made in China is best for you. I wouldn't want you to go through something similar again and since most were about quality issues (the laney problem was to me something different) best idea to me is to limit your options to made in USA or England.

Man I love the tone of that Peavey but I'm tainted now. sad.gif The Hughes & Kettner gets great reviews all over YouTube and not just by sellers.

But so was the Peavey, remember we really digged into such amps at the time listening sound samples and reading reviews.

Another friend of mine who's sort of a collector went through this too. He has an American Fender amp which is still working nicely but had issues with far eastern made guitars and pedals. After realizing although it was great fun having/exchanging gear the maintenence and finance started to become a burden.

We spoke about this with him and he's conviced to follow this rule. His expensive stuff like Fender amp, guitars and pedals never had issues so we took it as a sign. Another plus was this helped his impulse buying habbit too rolleyes.gif
