The folks at presonus have a new Daw Controller for about $500 street price. It's not an interface, just a daw controller. It's expanded version of their fader port product.

No knobs was a controversial decision, but at that price, people might not mind. I like that they made the footprint smaller than the Xtouch. I won't be giving up my Artist Mix for this though .

I also felt its more for a small to mid project studio rather than a high-end home studio.

I've got a lot of different control surfaces (I need them all for testing my plugins), but the one I use for my own mixes is the Artist Mix. If a control surface doesn't have motorized faders, I can't use it. You restore a session and the faders are all in the wrong positions... .
The Artist series was originally designed by Euphonix before they were bought by Avid, and the design has stood the test of time. It just feels right, and looks great. I don't really know where the faderport8 is supposed to fit in the market. It's lacking some things the xtouch has, but it's not that much cheaper. Anyway, the more competition, the better. -------------------- Cyber-industrial music and video animations:

Got some serious GAS. I wonder if it can work with Reaper!
