The folks at presonus have a new Daw Controller for about $500 street price. It's not an interface, just a daw controller. It's expanded version of their fader port product.

No knobs was a controversial decision, but at that price, people might not mind. I like that they made the footprint smaller than the Xtouch. I won't be giving up my Artist Mix for this though .

I also felt its more for a small to mid project studio rather than a high-end home studio.

They have a bigger product with wads of knobs for just a bit more, the Xtouch, which is spiff too Both are about half the price of the Avid Controllers, which are quite nice btw.

Yeah they're priced nice. When I was a student I remember wanting something like that but the main reason was for plug-ins.

My main problem with the mouse was naturally I could only control one parameter when adjusting eq's, compressors etc. when mixing. Using both hands is an advantage when searching for a sound including guitar specific gear. Back then I never saved enough to buy one for home use (was going to other studios anyway so wasn't necessary), I think novation at the time had good options.

Ive had a few of these types of things, but none with motorized faders which I always thought would be cool Being able to set more than one fader at a time, like you would during a mixdown on a nice board with automation, would be spiff It's a luxury though to be sure which is probably why I don't and have never owned one. Maybe I"ll get lucky and find one of these used

I've got a lot of different control surfaces (I need them all for testing my plugins), but the one I use for my own mixes is the Artist Mix. If a control surface doesn't have motorized faders, I can't use it. You restore a session and the faders are all in the wrong positions... .

The Artist series was originally designed by Euphonix before they were bought by Avid, and the design has stood the test of time. It just feels right, and looks great. I don't really know where the faderport8 is supposed to fit in the market. It's lacking some things the xtouch has, but it's not that much cheaper. Anyway, the more competition, the better.

Got some serious GAS. I wonder if it can work with Reaper!

I did notice that it's only 99 dollar cheaper than the xtouch? For the price, I think i'd just get the xtouch. Both have motorized faders so you'd be ok on that point I'm not for spending 1200 bux on a control surface so no avid bits for me. Still looking looking for a used xtouch
