At present I think anyone can join the forum (ie not just those who've subscribed to the videos etc). As such like Steve25 and Street Musician I'd be concerned about the potential of someone joining the board just to do a one off scam and then disappearing into the night with someone else's hard earned cash.

Cheers,
Tony

ps maybe I'm just getting cynical in my old age unsure.gif .

I don't think just anyone can join. ohmy.gif

I think you have to sign up for the lessons in order to become a member of the boards.

At least that's what it said when I tryed it out. Just to test it out, I signed out of my Slammer name, and clicked the "Register" button for the forum. It said I must pay for lessons in order to become a member of the forum.

I'm with Steve25 (and others), keep this site as a learning and discussion site; lets not try and make money off each other.

The honest opinions on this site are great. I don't need to worry about anybody's reasoning in their replies......

A Member has suggested that we add a classified section to GMC to allow members to buy and sell stuff through GMC. This poll is to gauge interest and see if it would appeal to members in general. Please complete the poll, and if you would like to, add a comment giving your reasoning. We'll see where we are at in a few days.

I'm in 100%. smile.gif

Great idea guys, another awesome feature to be added on GMC.
You always have to pay shipping and stuff,Ebay,Amazon etc.
But here we know each other a lot better, smaller chances to be fooled or som.
Just need to finalize few things like payment before or after receiving gear.

Anyhow,thumbs up. biggrin.gif

I voted a definite NO. I think it will weaken the character of the site with a flea market kind of flavor. This is an instructional site , not a yard sale. Just my 2 copper pieces smile.gif

I think a little place for selling gear would not be bad, as long as it's not getting to big. I think the focus should be on the lessons.

For the naysayers that are concerned about scamming and similar, what if there was some sort of requirement about being on the board for a period of time, and making a certain number of posts? In addition, we could make that board for pre-moderated posts only.

Any comments?

That could work out well. I think the only way to really know is to maybe do a test run. If it works out you keep the classified section up. If things get out of hand, you take it down.

I voted yes, I think it'd help a lot. If someone wanted to sell something on GMC that they didn't want, it'd probably be easier to get on GMC. And you know you'd get good reviews because....well come on...its GMC!

As for the scammers, maybe a required "Trial" time before you could buy or sell any items?
(Anyone whos played WoWarcraft, and applied and joined an end-game guild should instantly understand the concept tongue.gif)
A month or two, or maybe at least 50 posts, something like that.

i voted yes but then realised classifields cause problems...

THere will be conflict of prices (people will try to bargain and stuff) and if things dont work out for the best of interest for both parties then there could be permanent hatrid here on GMC.

Lets say another GMCer lives about a 2 hour long drive away from you. You need to meet him to buy an amp or something. He/she promised you theyed charge it for $200, but once you get there they charge $500 and theyd deny that they priced it at $200 (and you can do nothing about it, or leave GMC responsible for this). THis happened on another site to me.

Also people could sell illeagel stuff, like once on another site they are selling fake gibsons.

But if things worked out well it would be great.
