I also agree.

As do I. We want things to happen instantly in today's world but that is not how skill works. The greatest gave their life and countless hours to their craft.

Even those who are virtuosos didn't simply arrive at an endpoint without countless days, months, and years practicing, failing, becoming frustrated/disillusioned, and then returning to practice and arriving in small steps, small bounds, and infrequent leaps towards proficiency and their goals.

You are not alone It's not always easy to remain positive and look at the good things that have come from working toward any goal. It's always a bit easier it seems to be cynical about the results. It's important to at least try to focus on the positive outcomes of all energy expenditure IMHO. After all, you can't get it back You might as well be proud of what you have accomplished, no matter how little or how much

Yeah, as a race, humans seem inherently negative. People seem quicker to complain about a meal, for instance, than to compliment the chef. When it's bad, it's not how it should be, so, people complain, when it's good, it is how it should be so people say nothing. Same with learning, we think it should be quick because the masters make it look simple so we moan when it doesn't come quick, when we nail something unusually quickly we think, "why can't it all be that easy?". This creates a never ending cycle.
Sorry if I spoiled this thread but I think it's good to discuss both sides of the coin.

Sure Makes perfect sense. Yeah, it's almost a natural way of being to " take things for granted". It can have very bad consequences though, especially in terms of relationships. Taking a good meal for granted is one thing, taking the person who cooked it for you for granted is something else. )

All we can do is try to take note of our progress. In guitar, in everything. We typically don't see our own gains as they happen slowly. Thats why I suggest everyone make videos of their playing, even if you keep them private on youtube. You can go back and see how much you have improved in a given range of time. The first time I did this I was a bit shocked. I went and watched some vids from a year or two before and didn't realize that I had, in fact, gotten better on bits that I'd been working on.

You make vids so you can always go back in time and see for yourself The bootcamp is a great way to do this. Make a playlist on youtube, if you have not already, of just your bootcamp vids. You can keep it private if you like. Then go back and watch the early ones. Then watch the recent ones. You may be shocked at how far you've come

Yeah I look back at old videos and think to myself "wow, I have improved more than I thought I had" then I start thinking "but I should have improved more in that time".

Gotta fight that You have made major improvements. Being able to be positive is something, just like guitar, that takes practice. Negativity is like gravity. It's always pulling at you and trying to drag you down. You have to make a decision to fight it whenever you feel it creeping it. It's not always possible, but it's always worth trying for
