OK,
The guitar came back a few days later, they said there was nothing wrong, there was no back bow and it had .008" relief at the 8th fret. It was still buzzing. I decided to take it into my own hands and contacted Fender UK myself. Stating that we didn't say there was too much back bow, we said there was too much inherent back bow in the wood and even with the truss rod disconnected there wasn't enough relief. I sent it back, it's been there 10 days now and I contacted them again. They have ordered a replacement neck from USA. They must have thought I could be fobbed off. The official data on Fender's web pages says that a Tele with my fretboard rad should have .010" relief, I know it's only a couple of thousandths of an inch, or five microns ( 5 thousandths of a mm) but that is 25% more. Anyway, at least it is getting sorted properly now. I actually think the shop I got it from where my friend works should have checked it and put a report in officially rather than just sending it back. Store policy/system on returns and (specially) fixing all over the world to me seems less than perfect, I'm glad the neck will be changed!

My friend who owns a small guitar shop but doesn't sell Fender (he was the only Carvin dealer in the UK for years until they pulled dealers) would have done a full check, verified the problem and sent it back with a written report verifying the issue. He would have also fully checked it out on return and would not have given it back to me if it wasn't right.
When I got it back from the shop first time around, it was still fully taped up in the box Fender had returned it in therefore, unchecked by the dealer. -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Latest update.
The guitar is being exchanged because, "We've been trying to get hold of a new neck for that guitar, but we've struck out of luck with getting one from the US." Seems odd to me. -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. It has been sent to the shop. I told them I wanted it returned to my work address, they said it would. I've asked them if they can arrange a collection from the shop and a redelivery to my workplace when I am back from holiday August 7th.

What is it with people these days???????????? Can't anyone do their job correctly????????????
The Telecaster was promised back to me on Tuesday. This was after Fender had shipped the replacement guitar to the shop I bought it from. I know a friend of mine delivered it when I first had it but he's not in the country at the moment so Fender were supposed to arrange a collection from the shop and re-delivery to my work as it was their mistake. I contacted them today to see what is happening. Apparently there was a mix up between the shop and UPS, why did no-one think to contact Fender or myself???? Apparently I will get it tomorrow before the end of the day. We close at 15:30 tomorrow so I emailed them and asked for a pre-noon delivery. No reply. On top of that, a bloke is supposed to be coming to my house at 18:00 this evening to quote for some work I need doing, it's now 19:40 and no show, I'm hanging around like a spare dick at a wedding here -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Not cool
I just came back from my neighbor now and half of our chat was about people/companys not doing their jobs. I think its an era where we can trust any service anymore |

I tell you what though, most companies are superb before you pay them, it's after sales service that is abysmal. Seems like take yer money and run attitude.
To be fair, the bloke has contacted me, he got halfway here and his car went into limp mode, he had to get it put on a trailer and took back home. Re-arranging now. -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Just checked the tracking for UPS. Fender promised it would be delivered today. All it is showing is that the transit details have been arranged, all the UPS tracking is showing is that the order has been processed, it says "Once the shipment is moving withint the UPS network, the tracking status will be updated". That tells me it's still at the shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are four stages after that; SHIPPED>IN TRANSIT>OUT FOR DELIVERY>DELIVERED. Shocking!!!!!!!! UPDATE: I received an email from Fender later on this afternoon. They said they have had to alter the way they arrange collections with UPS. They have assured me I will get it on Monday. I doubt it though. UPDATE 2: That bloke that didn't show last night, hasn't shown this evening either. He has my FULL contact details, mobile number, email, Facebook. I'm starting to lose faith in humanity This post has been edited by Phil66: Aug 11 2017, 08:41 PM -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Well it never came on Monday. Today, my friend who works at the shop brought it to me. He has been on holiday so couldn't before. To be honest, I really didn't want him to, it had become a war of principles and I wanted Fender to sort it out. There were other issues though, it wasn't insured in the shop as it wasn't an item in their stock inventory and other things.
Anyway, I gave Fender UK a right bollocking. They are sending me a box of 12 sets of string (10s at my request) and a collection of picks to try out. I bet they end up at the shop and not my workplace This new one is a different animal. It has a good .010" relief at the 8th fret. The 12th fret harmonic intonation is much much closer than the other one too. This is a keeper. I'm going to play it in a bit and get my other friend to do one of his super setups He did THIS repair for a customer this week. I hope the guitar will make up for all the trouble you had to go through, and get those strings who earned them

It seems good. All of the action was set at 2mm at the 17th fret but I've brought it down to just over 1.5mm. It's still good
As I said, I'm going to get my mate to give it a good setup once its been played in and settled down. Cheers -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight.
