Pretty sure it's specifically Max Martin they're referring to

What's wrong with a bit of ABBA??????

ABBA rule

Agreed. I'm a HUGE ABBA fan. There are many Metal Heads who really like Abba. I don't know what the connection is. Then again, most everyone likes at least some ABBA. It's just good music. I always wanted to make a METAL version of KNOWING ME KNOWING YOU. smile.gif

It's timeless, still standing the test of time, doesn't sound dated at all.

Posted by: Todd Simpson Feb 23 2020, 11:45 PM

I agree! So much of their music still holds up. The production quality was amazing for the time period and is still pretty darn good even today. The harmonies from the girls voices are amazing. Granted, it's very dated visually, but sonically still great imho.
BTW the red head in the group is 'Lebensborn", she was part of Himmler's plan to repopulate the losses of the war. Meaning her father was a Nazi. She had to move from Norway, where she was shunned and abused for having a Nazi father, to Sweden where she got a new start and became part of the biggest band in the world at the time.

I think Evan Dando did an acoustic version of it and only when hearing it did I realise what a sad song it is lyrically.

ABBA is Metal. biggrin.gif

It really is a sad song. The abba version sounds almost happy in parts. Despite the minor key and sad lyrics. Here is a cover version with some heavy guitar!

NAILED IT ! They created so much of what has come to be the structure of song writing for every genre. Music owes them a great deal.
