Ok, after much hassle I've brought the guitar home. When I got it was covered in dust on the upper sections like it has been hanging from a wall hanger or on a stand. It was covered in fingerprints too, I haven't fully cleaned it yet as you can see if you look closely. The swallow vinyl cut (Ace's trademark) wasn't in the package.
I was not very happy. I called them saying it looked like an ex display model and whoever had packed it had no idea of presentation. I was going to return it but stocks are very low and there are only 180 available, knowing my luck the replacement would get damaged in transit and with all the sending back and stuff I would end up without one at all. I know someone who lost out on a limited edition Burns guitar because he sent three back because they had a flaw in the same place. He ended up not getting one as they had all been sold. It turned out, every piece was the same. I didn't want to risk that for a few fingerprints. There was no damage. They were very very sorry and said that someone had not done their job properly preparing the guitar for dispatch. It's not good enough. I don't mind going into a shop and taking a guitar off the wall and buying it as it is BUT mail order should be shiny new. They sent me some strings, a guitar care kit and a Fender strap for my strat. They also located the Swallow decal and sent that. It plays absolutely beautifully. There is a review HERE if anyone is interested and HERE is the man himself giving it a demo. I'm scared to play it now . The decal is a vinyl cut and optionally put on by the owner of the guitar. I guess they thought it might limit sales as some won't like it. I put it on to make it authentic but I'm scared of it coming off I picked the strap in the picture because I thought it went well with the character of the guitar and Skunk Anansie's music. -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. they should have knocked a few quid off it. At the very least you saved them the expense of having it collected and a new one shipped. However... congrats on the new geetar it sounds nice. They have a few at guitar guitar in Edinburgh so I might get a shot next time Im through you'll need to learn some skunk anansie now It was GuitarGuitar that I got it from. I got my 7 string PRS from them too. This was in a shocking state to be honest. They did send me a couple of sets of strings, a guitar cleaning kit (seems like they are taking the piss with that one) and a Fender strap for my Strat. You know how it is though when you've been looking forward to something for a while. I had it on hold for a month, oh! by the way, they said that was the reason it got covered in dust, "because it had been on hold for a month", I said "No, it got covered in dust because it had been left out of the gig bag". I wasn't too bothered about the dust to be honest, that wipes off easy, the finger prints have come off fairly easy too but they were a bit greasy, not like normal fingerprints. It was just the fact that I had been expecting a guitar in an OEM box nice and clean. It looked like it had been in the main showroom for everyone to have a go on. It was a real pisser when I got it out. I was so deflated. I told Ace and he was not a happy bunny. He contacted the head of PRS Europe the same day. They are going to give GG a talking to which will do a lot more than a mere customer like me moaning will do. It reflects bad on the artist when something like this goes out with their name on it. Ace is signing a pic like the one HERE for me to hang on the wall by it Here are a couple of pics of the smudges. I wouldn't even expect it on a Squire Bullet Strat never mind something like this. It's lovely now I've cleaned it up though and the bird looks much much nicer in real life than in all of the pics. -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Congrats! My guess would be since it was on hold, they hanged it to the high guitar holders in store to show off (only 180 made!). Should explain the dust, Thanks Thing is, they have for in stock. If I owned a guitar shop I would select one of these to be a display piece and all the others would be in their box waiting to be sold. In my book presentation is everything. A friend of mine owns a guitar shop and he said it was disgusting and that every guitar that he ships goes out as though it was going to his dad. -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Thanks Darius, I love it.
I know dirt and dust can be cleaned but in my opinion it shows a total lack of respect for the customer who has spent their hard earned money. It also shows disrespect for the artist that has their name on it. It's also really disappointing when you open up the box Cheers buddy. -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. If you are worried about the vinyl sticker, you could take a picture of it or just take the guitar to a graphics business that makes vinyl stickers for advertising and have a bunch of copies made. heck you could even get different colors. As long as the sticker isn't copyright protected I guess. Or maybe you could just order some spares from where you got the original. Thanks but they only ship with the Ace guitars I think. Cheers Scott,
To be honest I don't know how to extract the best tones from it. The setup is amazing, I'd like all my guitars set up the same. He is actually recording with this model and it is going on tour with him. Pretty good considering it's an SE See if you can try one at GG mate. I'm turning into a PRS convert. I'd like a 30th anniversary next, love the birds on the anniversary. Cheers buddy -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight.
