I am working on my guitar with more of a focus. As this is a guitar site, I just thought I would throw that in.

I have a sister with advanced Kidney disease, I take care of her needs so she can stay in isolation, as it would be a death sentence for her. I was prepared for a pandemic, know how to stay safe in all probability, and have circumstances that allow that.

I have to avoid infection not just for myself, but for my sister's welfare, and of course my beloved 6 dogs, my cat, my two guinea pigs, and even my fish. They need me there to take care of them.

On a side note, there needs to be international pressure to force all countries to stop the marketing and consumption of bats, and all wild animals. By economic sanctions or whatever it takes to force their hands. The next pandemic one could be worse than this one,

Your story is heartbreaking, Monica. I admire your courage, strength and ability to maintain a positive attitude in this time of crisis. Dealing with the possibility of losing a loved one is never easy and even when you have the chance to prepare for it, it doesn't really make it easier. You will be in our thoughts and prayers as are many others. We pray that we can get through this and come out stronger and better people on the other side.

Hard and worrying times for business owners.

IT's not like you run a brew pup with lots of random foot traffic. It's a small group of the same folks so not a huge public health risk it seems. If law men show up with yellow tape then it's done but til then probably your call I'm guessing? If you can mask/glove everyone it would be one way to try to keep em all a bit safer, assuming you can even get masks/gloves now one can't even find toilet paper smile.gif

I'm the legal guardian of my sister whom I have to tend as she suffers from mental illness and has been declared disabled from it. So I've been very worried about getting sick as I don't think she could tend herself very long. Now that both my parents have passed and my brother lives in Florida, I don't have any backup help. Part of the reason we are moving to florida smile.gif At least trying to move. With everything closing, it's going to be very tricky to do a move at the end of this month.

They have already closed the DMV here so I can't renew my license which I didn't notice had expired. oops. Also closed the social security offices so we can't go in and change her address. We can't do it online (not allowed for some reason) so we have to try the phone which has not worked yet. All state services are shutting down one by one. It's starting to get a bit grim.

Anyone else think their grocery store looks like an episode of the walking dead? Empty shelves and zombies walking around?

You have right, no matter how much time we have it's never enough to prepare yourself to lose a loved one. I'm angry because I can't do nothing to help my mom and change the things. But...in the same time I'm very grateful for the time that we have left because even if this time the cancer won the fight, how we choose to spend this end is something that depend only on us. Also the fact that I have the chance to accomplish some of her wishes it's important for me.
Keeping a positive attitude and making my mom to have days when she really forget that has cancer, I think it make us winners. The cancer ugliness can't destroy the beauty within us.

Rich, thank you so much for your kind words and take care of you. smile.gif You are also in my thoughts and prayers from the moment when I knew about your health issues.

Not only for business owners. Some people fortunately understand that if company will fall, their job will fall as well. I think we are all in financial relations so this pandemia affects each one...maybe besides the ones that get retirement payment but...they're the highest risk group so they have something worse to worry about...

I wasn't meaning to sound selfish about being a "business owner". I am concerned for every one of my workers as well as myself, that was what I meant, business owners have a lot of burden to retain staff. They technically only qualify for statutory sick pay but for the time being, because we value them, we are paying them in full. Hopefully we can qualify for government help. We will be arranging a huge loan to carry us over too.

The thing is done of my lads have wives that work in supermarkets etc. They have to go, they could pass it on to their husband he could bring it in and we could all go down with it. There are a lot of shared computer stations in the workshop, we are very very tight for space so the distancing thing is hard. I'm just trying to protect my workforce as much as possible. I'm gonna need them when this is over. Also nearly all of our customers are closed so we can't dispatch and invoice them anyway.

I loaded supplies early (including super pasteurized milk) , so my first trip in this environment was Monday. I was shell shocked, it overwhelmed me. But then I thought about the employee who helped me at the self checkout, looked to be at least 50, and how she has to expose herself all day long, to what customers are afraid of for a half hour once a week. So I thanked her, trying to convey my understanding and appreciation.

I'm no angel, but I have my better moments.

I think we got about 1 week till we see the peak and cases will start dropping and with the news of hydroxychloroquine and it's effectiveness,I believe the end is in sight

I have been working either from home and remodeling a rental that I have a contract to sell April 10th..I live in middle America were more people are down to earth ,level headed folks .Toilet paper ran off the shelves in some places but were replaced so quick people realized what they were doing and everything is still at the store with limits on buying to prevent shortages .Life really hasn't changed

We've been at this 'lockdown' for a solid two weeks now. Folks are less panicked and the markets have plenty of food. Paper products - not so much, though I was able to find TP a couple of days ago.
It is hard to find flour and I know that 90% of those hoarding it have never baked anything in their life. And I can guarantee you they have absolutely no idea how to store it. Not that they're gonna need it but when they go to make that pizza in 3 months, they're going to open it up and find mouse turds, weevils and silver fish.

My technique is to go to the Armenian markets in the morning. Doesn't have to be early. Generally speaking, the only part of LA's population that shops there are Armenians, Greeks and Russians. The white folks don't go and either do Asians, Hispanics or African Americans. There's also an Italian bakery that didn't get ravaged and has meat and frozen lasagna, plenty of pasta and coffee and the like.
All the restaurants here are open for take out and delivery and many of them are also now selling bulk stuff like bread, flour, milk, sugar, eggs, etc.

Once people realized that the stores were still getting deliveries, they started to chill out.

I hope your right smile.gif All the health folks seem to be saying that we won't peak for another couple of weeks, which would be awful, so I do hope they are all wrong. Time alone will tell. We are still seeing the number of infected/dead spike straight up every day so it doesn't look good in terms of the numbers. It actually looks quite bad. Still I hope to goodness it all smooths out in a week or so. That would be great!

At the moment the UNITED STATES IS THE NEW EPICENTER of Covid. Not what I was hoping to hear. sad.gif

The only place I've found toilet paper in Georgia is at Quick Mart where it's five bux for four pack which is almost double what it should be. In local groceries/walmart/target, all the TP/Sanitizer aisles are just empty. It's like somebody backed up a truck and just took all of it. It's unsettling. It's also stupid. People are hoarding for no good reason.

This guy goes to several places just like I did today. I must have beaten him to the punch at quick trick smile.gif

I hate to say it, but my skin is starting to peel off my hands form the washing/sanitizer/etc. I decided to turn off all news for 24 hours as it was making it hard for me to even get to sleep. It's just unsettling at this point to watch 24 hour coverage of all this. I'm going to cut back to one hour of news a day.

Sweden seems to be the only country in Europe that hasn't closed schools yet, but we have prepared for it.

Since I usually work from home this doesn't change that much for me, but my wife has started working from home as well. Also we have kept our kids home for almost two weeks since the recommendation is for us to avoid school if there is even the lightest hint of cold.

We also try to help our parents with grocery shopping. But it's not always easy since they are reluctant to change their habits...

What is wrong with old people? Same on my side. We try to explain how it all works. we try to make them realize it's all mostly for their good, because THEY are in the highest risk group....

I share this information with the idea that it could possibly help someone in some way.

My cousin Joey died of Covid yesterday in Nashville, at the age of 61. I had been getting daily calls about his condition, but I'm still a little shell shocked by the outcome. I hate the fact that, except for the hospital staff, he died alone - no family members were allowed in the hopital. Rollingstone released a nice tribute:

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-co...bituary-974556/

Joey and I grew up in a little town in Oklahoma. We played sports together, played in a cover band (that part worked out OK for him), acted stupid together, and I was the best man in his first wedding. He would laugh if he heard me say that. When he did gigs in the Dallas metroplex, my wife and I would drive over and spend a couple of hours on the bus with him before the show. Good guy.

Take good care of yourself and your family, if possible.

Jeff

I grieve for your loss. I saw the news that he had passed. This virus doesn't have any restrictions on who it takes from us it seems. He touched a lot of people with the gift of music and I hope I can say the same about my life from the other side. Music is beyond a career, it's a calling. Many are called, few are chosen. He was clearly one of the chosen. Talented, creative, clever. I'm very sorry this virus has struck so close to home.

Todd
