GMC Forum _ REC _ Take 3: Muse Goes Stoner

There's my my new take of this lesson. I worked hard to improve the points you show me in my previous takes. My instructor, Gab, suggests me to play with more dynamics. It''s not easy for me yet. I,ve done my best on this take. You'll see how hard I've worked.

As I've said at the mentoring thread, your takes on this lesson are getting better and better with each new recording. As you already receive my diary feedback there, I'm here just grading.

Hey Alex! Your attitude is very good for making constant progress. Your making little setp that are bringing you closer and closer to the target level. You surely apply all the feedbakc from previous takes. Tone is much better now. Rhythm has become more solid and better matched to the drums. Thing that brings most of distraction at the moment are spots where some strings should have been muted when you go to play higher ones. Compare your take to Gabriel's and try to capture them by yourself Try to hear where Gabriel makes those higher strings sound "alone and clean" while at the same time you'll find exact same moment in your take having for example 6th string ringing over note you played on higher string.

Oh...do not worry about teh fact there is still work to be done over this lesson. Comparing your first take and this one...we have like a...day and night difference! It's huge progress you can be proud of

Hi Alex, well done for continuing to work hard at improving your playing. I can see that you've been implementing our suggestions.

Your timing is getting closer to the desired standard. You'll still need more work but at least it is getting better.

I see that you've added some palm muting to the open E string in the middle riff. Good, this shows that you're thinking about tone and dynamics.

Along with timing, the main aspect you need to work on is making sure that notes don't bleed into each other. This will require you to control string noise by experimenting with your picking hand to find how you can use the edges of your hand to slightly rest against the strings and prevent accidental ringing of the strings. This is probably one of the more confusing things to learn for any aspiring guitarists but don't worry, we've all experienced it and we're here to help you.
