I wanted to go to Berklee, but chances of getting a scholarship are to small and paying is just way too much for me. I accepted that i won't graduate from Berklee and now i don't care as i see a good chance of becoming professional guitarist even without Berklee. All i need is a solo album of good, interesting and musical material. Some luck is sure needed also
Don't get too obsessed with it - doesn't make you any good. Just keep practicing and playing. -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

Yeah, im still waiting for that album I'm not gonna hurry with it even a bit because i want it to be great at least in my eyes - and that's hard to achieve. You know it's like - first impression counts. So if i hit the market with a crappy CD - i buried my name. if i hit the market with an interesting album, with top skills - than i have a chance of getting a contract and stuff.... -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

Many great players don't have music degree at all,we all know that.
Berklee? With scholarship...yeah. To pay by yourself...guess it's not worthing that much, imho. Can you get scholarship?..hope so,depends of your skills. Will your playing improve with hard work?...with or without Berklee, absolutely yeah. -------------------- Youtube

TBH I think it's a hard question to answer without having a clear understanding and appreciation of you level of ability at the moment and without being able to estimate your likely level when you apply FretDancer.
Berklee has a highly competitive standard and I think you would require not only very good levels of guitar playing and theory but also an ability to demonstrate a broad and developed musical vocabulary and interest and commitment to being a musician. One person whom I think may be very well placed to answer your question is Muris as he was accepted albeit could not take up the place for personal reasons. Regardless if your dream is to go their then there is certainly no harm to my mind in putting in the effort and making the attempt. They won't find you , you have to apply for sure,it's fully commercial school.
Anyhow, theirs policy has been changed a lot after 9.11. and plus I had some issues at home. Wouldn't say I regret too much but would love to have degree from it one day. -------------------- Youtube

The psychological approach is also very important and there were some great advices in the posts!
