Hate to throw a potential spanner in the works - but aren't there some minor differences in the profiles between some Fenders strats - ie the radius of the top horn, position of bridge/pickups, design of scratch plate, number/placing of scratchplate screws and a few others?
Don't think it's a potential deal breaker unless there is some crucial bit of the character on the design? Might just be worth making sure that you have a like for like template to work from though. You're probably right Tony, but I've only got experience with my own Fender, so I can't really comment about the differences. For now I think I'll go with
http://www.kinman.com/images/inside/toneWo...0th%20Anniv.jpg as a template. It seems to be around the right size. Since it takes relatively little time (something I have a lot of), and doesn't cost more than the price of sticker paper, I think I can afford screwing up a few times. Edit: I just hope the picture loads within this year... This post has been edited by Ayen: Sep 13 2007, 08:46 AM |

Should still be ok Ayen as long as no important bits of the design are in bits that might have changed on the fender with years/models- probably the extremes of the fender design. Does sounds like a great idea . And post a pic when done please.

I'm uploading 7 designs I've done so far. I haven't spent more than 5 minutes on any of them, and probably wont until I decide on a final design. Since Venom was starting to become a bit repetitive at just two pictures, I added in Spawn and Tyrael from Diablo 2. The outside of the guitar is a bit jagged, because I had to get the outline of it, then delete the inside, invert it and delete the outside of every picture put on top of the body. Can I get any feedback on what you guys think is the best one?
Thanks to it being put on Photobucket, I can only give links, as the image size is bigger than Andrew's requested size. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/Ayeni...esigns/WIP1.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/Ayeni...esigns/WIP2.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/Ayeni...esigns/WIP3.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/Ayeni...esigns/WIP5.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/Ayeni...esigns/WIP6.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/Ayeni...esigns/WIP7.jpg I realize now that some don't have the oval for the chord, but this can easily be fixed so I won't address it immediately.
