Scorched Memories

An empire at its peak
Outside forces beware
These stone walls mark territory
Thou shall not enter here
A man walking the streets
None question his innocence
His mind though, sick and twisted
The future looks bleak
A sea of red erupts
A tidal wave of fire
Stampeding through this city
The buildings turn to ash
Women and children scream for their lives
With a father at their side
A tear trickles, down the side of a check
“Take me, and spare their lives!”
This blazing torrent of fire
Forever unforgiving
Tearing through their lives
Their story has come to an end
This hellish whirlwind continues
To crash upon the walls
Six days and nights it continues
Then silence follows all
Several men left standing
They live to tell the tale
How the ocean of fire was defeated
But the cost did not go unpaid
