I really am enjoying Reaper and was wondering because its free is there any advantage to buying it? And if not how do they make money then??

Reaper is indeed splendid
The evaluation version of reaper is complete and uncrippled.

I bought it for $60 after a year... to support the project

I agree - reaper is a great daw for the price. (FREE)

It's free forever but if you're guilty about those sort of things you can always get a personal use license for very cheap.

No advantage really - it's the same paid for or not paid for, they don't limit the evaluation or features or anything like that.

Not exactly, (if it didn't change last time I checked) on every major version change one has to buy a new licence. Now there is 4.78, when 5 gets official you have to buy it or keep using the latest 4 version avalible.

I think it was 3.80-90 something when they released vers. 4...I know 5 is in beta tests so might be worth waiting unless you'd like to support them anyway which is fine too smile.gif

If you have some extra money, it's nice to support REAPER as it's continued presence is based on the guys making it, keeping up making it smile.gif

That said, they know most folks just use it. smile.gif
