I really don't like playing acoustic guitar. I think it might be because of the strings. dry.gif

I play Ernie Ball 10s on my electrics. What would be a good gauge/type/manufacturer to get for my acoustic?

I always go for 0.12 on acoustic. That's just the right tension for me in normal tuning but I guess it's a personal preference. On electric I use hybrid set 9 - 46.

Btw, whay don't you like playing acoustic? I have just graded your take on acoustic, you did awesome job there.

I think being it an acoustic instrument, heavier gauge would generate a louder and fuller sound. I would go for .11 or .12

Check out Ernie Ball 'Earthwood' strings. They make a 10-52 set where the G is a plain string instead of being a wound one.

Thanks. Playing the steel sting acoustic always feels stiff or rigid. Playing the nylon string acoustic always feels so much nicer.

I think I'll try a set of those strings that Sensible Jones recommended.

dude, yeah the thicker the strings the more projection you will get , thinner ones are good though too as they naturally make it a bit easier to fret. I used to like Dean Markley but the last few years tended to go with martin Extra lights phosphor bronze i think, they are good and reasonably priced too.

12-52 seems like a nice gauge for acoustic, but you'll never know until you try couple of gauges and see what suits you best. It's a matter of balance between tone and comfort.
