Well as a liberal when it comes to economy, I must say that I don't believe in anything like this to work. It is proven time and time again that by giving money to somebody, You make him poorer, not richer. The more help one gets, the more dependent on the help he becomes, and in conclusion the more help he needs. There is no way of feeding Africa, no matter how many fish we send there, we must teach how to fish. As the old proverb says "You give man a fish and You feed him for a day, You teach man to fish, and You feed him for a lifetime". Do you get Rush Limbaugh in Poland? You should call him up, I bet he would put you on the radio if you called in. From Chuang Tzu "'On the road yesterday, as I was coming here, I heard someone calling out. On looking round, I saw a goby in the carriage rut, and said to it, "Goby fish, what has brought you here?" The goby said, "I am Minister of Waves in the Eastern Sea. Have you, Sir, a gallon or a pint of water to keep me alive?" I replied, "Yes, I am going south to see the kings of Wu and Yüeh, and I will then lead a stream from the Western Kiang to meet you; —will that do?" The goby flushed with anger, and said, "I have lost my proper element, and I can here do nothing for myself; but if I could get a gallon or a pint of water, I should keep alive. Than do what you propose, you had better soon look for me in a stall of dry fish."' I am glad that it will help someone, but I wouldn't trust this guys, especially Bill! Bill has been pretty good about this, has long had a foundation, he is one setting an example for the rest of the filthy rich. Here is the list of the most charitable countries. While the US gives the most, we are only 20th in terms of per capita contributions. Sweden is #1. It seems that northern Europe tends to have the most charitable populations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_...table_countries This post has been edited by fkalich: Aug 5 2010, 10:18 PM |

I don't want to sound pessimistic or paranoid, but this doesn't sound right to me. There is certainly some higher stakes here than simply giving to charity. If someone is trying to "give" billions of their own worth to someone else, there must be interest, huge interest involved. The fact that they are combining they efforts is even more suspicious. In the end, to stay positive, I really, really hope it will help those that really need help.
