So for english class we are doing a project on a song about social justice. We are allowed to pick the song and it can be any genre of music. Me and a friend need a metal song because our teacher take 'Countdown to Extinction' by Megadeth. We thought of other songs but in the end we dont think it will work. Does anyone have any suggestions? And Remember it is heavy metal. It has to be something a teacher would accept in the classroom.

Our teacher said the word rape is used to much for a catholic school. That was my first thought actually.

Cry Freedom by Dave Matthews Band.

Not quite in the same style as Megadeth laugh.gif

but it's a great song about the social injustice in apartheid age South Africa.

I actually used this song for a similar project when I was in highschool.

EDIT:

Also the song "Mother, Father" by Dave Matthews Band is a good one. If you listen to that song just once, you'll get it - it has a very clear message.

Haha I love Dave but me and my friend wanted to do something different than the other kids since we are known as our classes "metalheads" plus its social justice not injustice, which is a big point my teacher hit haha. Thanks though laugh.gif

I am not sure if I understood what your looking for.
You mean a song how bad the humans are and that they need to change? Then this song would fit:

Iced Earth Lyrics - Consequences
CODE
As human beings, we're a complex thing
Sometimes so beautiful, other times so vain
We've built an empire, the blood is on our hands
Genocide and the chains that bind
The consequence ahead

Oh, you ought to know
Oh, you ought to know

Wrote about in history as if it's all O.K.
A race of people murdered another one enslaved
Now our world crumbles, it's happening within
Open your eyes and realize
The world we're living in

Oh, you ought to know
Oh, you ought to know

If we could focus on important things
Live and let live true freedom, not everyone's the same
No more war for your god, no more war for your race
It's our world, it's what we make it
Make it a better place

Oh, you ought to know
Oh, you ought to know

We can change the world that we're living in
Live and let live true freedom
Let the reign begin

I've got a few ideas, but I better not. ;-) I am curious though. What is it exactly you are supposed to do after you pick the song? I ask because I just can't imagine how you fit this into an English class.

Well we pick a song then write a two page essay on why it is social justice and what it can promote. We also have to make a album cover that is a reflection of the song. Please any ideas will help me out big time. She wont let me do megadeth or metallica. I thought about the song 'The Day I left the womb' by Escape the Fate. This is really confusing because she says we can do whatever genre of music we want, but when it comes to me and my friend she wont let us do songs that we are interested in.
