I've got Superior Drummer 2, so I'm probably sticking with that, but it's great news for a lot of people out there looking to get some nice sounding drums!

Do you think I could still use Metal Machine with this?
I wonder how different from the first version it is.

Yeah, you can use it with the old expansions.

Looks a lot like EZKeys in the video; dragging and dropping grooves and adding effects inside the plugin, before getting to the DAW.

That was my immediate thought too Socky. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I use Ezkey occassionally and often end up exporting the midi for use with another VSTI which creates another step in the process, but if it makes choosing and editing the drum loops to fit what you want a lot more efficient then I'm all for it!

Sounds like they're incorporating a lot of EZPlayer Pro so you can create full MIDI drumtracks to import into your DAW. Glad I held off purchasing it!

It's nice to finally see an upgrade, as well as adding functionality for auditioning and creating full MIDI drum tracks!

I just hope that the upgrade price isn't too crazy...

What happens if I buy the currently available version of EZdrummer before the release of EZdrummer 2 on May 6, 2014?

If you purchase EZdrummer now you will automatically receive a free upgrade to EZdrummer 2 (downloadable version, available on release). The EZdrummer 2 license will be automatically wired to your user account upon registration of EZdrummer. This offer expires on May 6 2014.

You will get all the audio and MIDI content from EZdrummer – and the free upgrade to EZdrummer 2. Your total cost for all this would be $179 or €139 (list).

quote:

Will the current version of EZdrummer be discontinued?

Yes. On May 6 2014, the current version of EZdrummer will no longer be available for purchase. As long as supplies last with retailers, customers will be able to register and authorize the program however. The audio and MIDI content will become available as a regular EZX expansion (available May 6 2014).

You own EZdrummer already:

quote:

I own the current version of EZdrummer. How much does the upgrade cost?

The upgrade price is $99, €79 (List price of full version: $179, €139).

quote:

Why should I upgrade?

EZdrummer 2 is not just an update – it is a completely new program introducing an extensive set of features. It also comes with two all-new drum libraries and a collection of percussion.

quote:

Will my already installed EZX expansion libraries work in EZdrummer 2?

Yes. In fact, they will be optimized for EZdrummer 2 and include new graphics and effect chain presets. The EZX updates are only compatible with EZdrummer 2 and will be provided free of charge to EZdrummer 2 customers (available May 6 2014).

quote:

What should I know before I upgrade to EZdrummer 2

The minimum system requirements for EZdrummer 2 are as follows:

Windows 7 or newer, Pentium 4 or Athlon processor with 2 GB RAM.
Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, Intel-based Mac with 2 GB RAM.
4 GB of free hard disk space.

Most notably, EZdrummer 2 will NOT be compatible with Windows XP/Vista, nor Mac PowerPC or Mac OS 10.5 on Intel-based Mac.

quote:

Will EZdrummer 2 run side by side with EZdrummer?

No, it will replace it and automatically load in place of the EZdrummer 1 instances in your existing projects. All the settings you made to EZdrummer in those projects will be preserved and playback will be exactly as it was, but you will gain access to the features and controls available in EZdrummer 2.

I bought it. First impression after a few hours: this sounds fantastic and the new features are very, very nice smile.gif

I'll work with it more in depth next week. Try to compose a new song.

I'm still waiting to for a sale so I can upgrade cheaply.

Drum tracks are probably my main obstacle when it comes to composing and recording, and it takes all the motivation from me

if you have drums !. What I have done is spend time setting up (in reaper) A MIDI DRUM track , with all drum tracks having there own track/volume, put in hit hat and a simple snare and kick(snare on 1 , kick on 2),copy and paste to get about a minute and half, then in Reaper save as template,Everytime I have a new song,it takes 2 seconds to get a track and the I can just start filling in drums as my groove needs them

I got it a couple months ago and have not messed with it yet. I have been a bit intimidated to learn the new way of building the songs, not sure why.

But I have two cover tunes I would like to build the drum parts in, so I can rewrite the songs. I hope to have a working knowledge of this pretty soon. I've watched the videos but as always, I have questions on the "what-if's".

If any of you guys copy a cover tune, please make a video of how to go about doing that.

I'm working with EZDrummer 2 on this new song. This is a raw recording. No compression, no EQ, no mixing. Just "as is". EZDrummer 2 is set on metal for this one.
