GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ My Introduction

Posted by: fzalfa Mar 18 2015, 10:25 AM

hi here

my name is Laurent, i'm a 42yo man, living in france, near Avignon, in provence, under the sun.

my job is about to manager a RV custom building workshop (camping car).

i have start to "play" with guitar two years and 3month, but i started to work seriousely since september.

I love metal, prog , jazz and blues.

my fav guitarists are dave mustaine, slash, joe pass, bonamassa, Mikael Åkerfeldt, Daniel Gildenlöw, bucket head, santana, bb king and more.

i love to play blues and jazz, i have start to do some metal cover (tornado of souls, sweating bullets), it's pleasant but it's not my passion. i prefere to do improvisation or my own interpretation of standarts ( moan'in, take five, mystie).

i have done a gary moore cover, and try to respect the original one, hard to do, hard to do not let myself play my music.

now i'am learning europa frome santana, i have a lot of tittle to learn, one live cannot be enought.

i'm here in complement to my professor (a jazz professional guitarist, very buzy, not always available)

i workd about 2-6h per days since september

my gears are:

- Epiphone Les Paul Custom EMG (81 & 85 activ)
- Epiphone Les Paul Studio (di marzio pickup)
- Greg Bennett RL 5

- wahwah VOX

- roland FA66 firewire

- a PC (quad xeon quad core, 64 GB etc..)
- Guitar Rig 5

that's all smile.gif

you can take a look to my works at my soundcloud page (beware, i do a lot of dirty stuff)

Welcome to the community Laurent!

I have listened your latest track on soundcloud (Still Got The Blues) and I really like your playing vibe. I see that you are mentioning learning songs and making covers by concentrating on the details. That is an extremely good approach as with guitar playing, in my opinion, everything is "in the details". What I mean by it is expression, bending the strings, vibrato, intentional noises and all the other small nuances in playing which make guitar playing so expressive. I can hear that you pay attention to those details and this will help you make a lot of progress on the guitar and sound like a "pro".

I'd like to invite you to check out our REC program if you get a chance, it would be cool to see a video of you there : http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=40697

....and as I can hear that you are very melodic player, I think you should not miss submitting your contribution/jam to this collaboration project: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=54081
