Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Pentatonic Shred Licks by Gabriel Leopardi

This one was really hard! The last lick is insanely fast.

Hey man! Thanks for choosing my lessons for the Rec! smile.gif
I think that the lesson is a bit over your level now. However you learnt every section perfectly and now it's time to work on every section a bit more. There are many parts in which you play the licks a bit out of the timing. So the timing is the main thing to improve on this take. The fast legato needs some more practice as well as the difficult last licks in which your hands aren't 100% synchronized. You did a big effort and the result is ok. Keep on working! smile.gif

biggrin.gif There's a fire in the house! As Gabe said, a little more practice will get this in your bag of tricks - timing and hand synch are the key elements here wink.gif

Hey.. it's great that you are pushing yourself out of your comfort zone smile.gif You're a good player with good timing, vibrato and bending skills. To reach the skill level of the licks in Gab's lesson, you'll need to invest more time in learning them.

Unfortunately ther's no shortcut to speed and accuracy.. just devotion to as many perfect repetitions with the metronome as you can manage. One thing that should be made clear to any guitarists is that we can't expect improvements every day or every other day. We just need to spend time practising licks as perfectly as possible, and then forget about them. A few weeks later, we pick up the guitar and notice how much we've improved. You might find that you need to stay at the same speed for a week or two until the required motion is perfectly embedded in your body and you don't even have to think about it.. that's when you're ready to bump up the speed. Don't feel disheartened though, we are all doing this all the time, working towards our desired skill levels.. working to the metronome.. join the club ! smile.gif

Well played, but you need to spend more time on slower tempos, the sound wasn't so precise and defined. It's a difficult lesson, and should be approached as one, with very slow breakdowns, specially on the last part.

Large bite for you - currently! But I think you have a good feeling, try to reduce the tempo and gradually should train each part, especially the last one ! Keep practicing wink.gif

I think your sync between both hands is great and you really have great potential, it's like you are almost there,

You need to start each phrase at the right beat because I see you start slightly before and that makes the whole phrase sound out of time, when you correct that you'll improve a lot

Tap your foot when practicing, that'll help a bunch
