Heh...
I was debating putting this here especially with all the masters here on this board!! lol
If its stupid feel free to delete post.
I thought I may try to share something that maybe seem a bit silly but has helped me create my tunes and I find it pretty efective for me at least. This is probably mainly for metal players.
A good exercise I do is to think about how to pick some thing. Not really be in key with the notes. As long as you are humming it higher or lower.
I use the word "jump" - (Low) , "Jemp" (Med) and "Jimp" (high) tones.
Obviously this only work with basic songs but this is how I start to create my tunes.
Example of a song -
Jump, Jemp, Jemp, Jump, Jimp. x2 = Intro
Jump, Jump, Jump, Jemp
Jump, Jump, Jump, Jemp
Jump, Jump, Jump, Jemp
Jump, Jump, Jump, Jimp = Verse
Jimp, Jemp, Jimp, Jemp, Jump, Jump, Jump, Jump, Jump, jump, jump x2 = Chorus
and so on...By looking at this I created a template of a song by just using words.
The 4th word I use for lower tones would be...
Jomp.
Jump, Jomp, Jomp, Jump, Jomp, Jomp
For the fifth word I use. "JaDump"
That would be my slides into another chord...
Jump, Jump, JaDump, Jump, Jump, JaDump, Jump, Jump
Remember these phrases are place holders and not notes.
i.e - G, G, G--A, G, G, A--G
Hope this helps someone. It has helped me a few time to figure out what may come next in a song..
Dan
