Hello GMC
i know he have alot of Steve Vai and Joe Satriani fans on gmc especially Pavel and Andrew ect.I just got my new issue of guitar world today and Steve and Joe are on the cover in return of the kings 20 years of shredding there hearts out. This isue is packed with stuff from both of them but, the one thing i found really interesting was the steve Vai's 10 hour workout.Steve Vai's guitar playing has been the Holy Grail for serious player's.This workout apeared in guitar world 17 years ago and shaped a generation of guitar player's.Steve adds that the way he became a great at guitar was practicing 10 hours a day.He broke this practice into ten different area's Linear picking exercises, streching excersises, angular exercises to improve your string crossing chops, just to name a few.;All you Vai and Satch fans need to get this issue if you dont already have it.Let me know if you have read this issue yet and what you think about it.I have to add i just saw Marcus trill lesson and i will be spending the rest of day learning it biggrin.gif I love when his lessons come out because it's always something i like and always improves my playing and never boring. smile.gif

Sure
He does 3 one hour chord studies. One hour ofexperimenting with unusual chords and voicings .One hour he would just jam on a rythem, and 3rd hour he would study chord charts studying jazz and fusion.

He does scales and mode study,
Vai's scale workout includes playing the major sale in all 12 keys, at 10 different tempos, and practicing scales in interval patterns.

He
would spend hours on the second day
Put 3 hours into mechanics, then work on vibrato, hammer on's pulloff's and trills (which he calls flutters.

Steve also used to transcribe Orchestra scores for Frank Zappa, which was really hard to do because, acoustically your ear can decipher only 3 or 4 different sounds at one time. You have to be able to focus and concentrate on one instrument among many.

This is all stuff from the magazine hope it helps along with other i listed ,.There was alot of stuff about Vai that i didnt know untill reading this and his practice style was and is very intense. smile.gif

At GMC you have 357 hours workout and growing so i don't see the point of spending 6 hours on old Vai's exercises and having an awesome resource of exercises like GMC. Yes - i said OLD because those exercises are covered in every single instructional DVD ever released - Gilbert, Angelo, Cooley and more. Those are like common OLD SCHOOL exercises so playing stuff from GMC will make your practice session much more interesting. smile.gif

Yeah, Steve workout is very good, but it's very boring (in my opinion), I usually listen an exercise and do my own variation (often without learning the original exercise) tongue.gif
In this point GMC is a good tool
