Have had this backing track lying around for a while and decided that I wanted a little jamming on it. There are some obvious mistakes, but hopefully some positives too:

Tell me your every thought now smile.gif

Thanks, Ramiro. It's something I've been mentally working on over the last couple of years, I geuss. Back then I'd be thrown more off guard when playing something "wrong".

Hi

Excellent tone and playing, and good feeling, but I felt you vere getting a little bit bored the last 30 seconds or so, but great sweeps there. I heard no unpleasant mistakes, except the obvious where you make the face. Great jam, very jazzy, you know your way around the fretboard. smile.gif

I liked it mate, your playing has a very professional and coll quality about it, and even though you can obviously play fast you mix it up with tone and note placement which is always my preference.

I enjoyed listening to it.

Think the placement of the notes is very good, and surely a good tone smile.gif
But I couldn't help thinking your pinky lacks some strenght. Most of the time it seems to be 'just hanging there' and you didn't use it alot. Could also be that it's just me but thought I should point it out.

For the mistakes, they don't sound too bad, especially because you just keep on playing after you make them. That way you tend to forget them easily smile.gif

I really like your note choice with some chromatic in between. Guitar sound is also good. You have a very good technique and control but still some slight polishing needed. I am sure you know about all that but I think that many could learn from you very soon. Well done

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering - what is it specifically that you like between :35 and 1:03? smile.gif

That's a great comment, Emir! Thanks a lot.

I do know I have several weaknesses, but the worst of the lot is lack of motivation to practice, so I rarely practice anymore.

Yeah, you are right. My pinky is a little weak and all around the place. Definately something to work on, though it's a little low on my (non-existing) list.

Actually, my alternate picking is very bad, so if I have to play fast it has to be by legato. If I have to pick faster than 16th notes in 132bpm +/- I'm in deep trouble smile.gif

If that's what you call 'very bad' I should be ashamed of myself. 16th notes at 132 bpm seems to me like a very reasonable speed to have achieved and not at all that bad. For example, I can only play 16ths at 90 bpm tops. Just to show you that your AP isn't nearly as bad as you think it is.

No, no, don't be ashamed of yourself! I'd just personally have liked to be able to play faster, but that one probably demands more practicing.

Cool jam Ben, I like it. One thing I would recommend working on more is making phrases communicate with each other more. In other words more rhythmic variety and perhaps very strong entrance and ending to each phrase wink.gif

That's just where your playing got my attention... my favorite part of the song, I guess. I like the note choices, the slides, the feel, the speed changes, where you played notes, where you didn't ...overall phrasing. I like the sweep(I'm not very good at them) after 1:03 and the playing through the whole jam, but that section jumped out at me when I first watched it.
