Hi guys....My name is Mattfig and write and record music professionally since 1998...I perform with my band and also write for TV/Movies...I have publishing deals with all the majors from FOX through HBO...

Anyway, I don't do well at the resume' thing online but I wanna dive in here...

Right now I keep a major stable of tube amps...It's rather involved but I'm happy to answer any questions for those unfamiliar...I mainly use customized Egnater/Randall MTS systems along with a Mesa Roadster w/ FJAMods...

Here's a few pics of the gear in my main room...Crappy quality pics but you'll get the idea....Lots and lots of gear....

You can hear my latest songs at http://www.cdbaby.com/mattfig2

I also make many instructional and informational videos on custom MTS modules...

Here's my latest offering...

Let's talk gear!!!! I'm very excited to be a part of this community!

Why thanks! It's me on all vocals and I play every instrument on some songs while others feature my bandmates as well...

The newest CD is being tracked right now and features the whole band and all the MTS system gear....The guitars are bigger than ever...

Thank you for taking the time to say hey!

You will love it! I'm happy to help you in any way when you decide to pull the trigger!

As for those asking links to publishing work, the song I used for the Salvation Mods promo video has an alternate version (revised lyrics) that appears in a few FOX series. I am not a jingle or theme song guy (yet). Otherwise, songs from my last CD have also seen usage - "Silk Shirt" and "She's Got A Lot To Say" in particular.

I'm checking more of your songs and I really enjoy your style. Your voice and style remind me a bit to GNR and also to Ugly Kid Joe. Are these bands influences?

Welcome to GMC, mate! Glad to know you love talking about gear - that's one of my favorite subjects nowadays.

What is that FIG amp/cabinet ? Is a custom made amp ? How does it sound like ?

HIya! The cabs I have are all some form of Egnater design though built by different companies...The Fig cabinet that is white is loaded with vintage 30s and used for strictly for recording...The black Fig cabinet is loaded with Celestion Neos (custom built) used live and for recording and the amp that sits on top with the Fig logo is a custom Randall/Egnater RM100 head that I use with my MTS (Modular Tube System) modules...The head is loaded with a pair of EL34s and a pair of 6CA7s for power...The preamps I have are all custom builds and cover almost every major amp I have ever owned or wanted...Many Marshalls, Mesa Recto, Mesa Mark IV, Mark V, Vox, Matchless, VHT, Diezel, Fender, Orange, Soldano- the list goes on and on...These are actual tube preamps, nothing digital...If you want to know more about them I'm happy to show them off...I have many MTS rigs and do a lot of work with them...

Anyway, what kind of gear do you use? That goes for anyone reading this...Curious what the others in the community are into...

Seems digital gear like the Kemper PA has captured many studios' attention...Mine too but I can't tear away from the tubes...smile.gif

Hi Matt.

I'm new here too.
You gotta lot of nice gear. And you build a lot of nice stuff too!

It's funny, I have a ton of tube amps and analog pedals but for most of the TV, vid game and movie session work I do I actually use an old (vintage laugh.gif) POD 2.0. I've learned which 5 amp models really end up sounding good coming out of a TV speaker system of laptop speakers. I'll also gladly play through any of the studios/engineers software. I like amplitube (I've used it for years so I'm familiar w/it). I've also found that the better the converters and word clock the better the models sound. Also just being able to plug into a good DI/Pre helps things immensely (that's a pre req for old school tape recording too).

Here's a bunch of 'gear shots' (yes, I consider pizza gear)...

Firstly, wow...Nice setup and clips...I love your selection of instruments and amps...And yes, pizza is one of the more important pieces of gear one needs...

I hear a lot of great things about GR5 software for recording...But it sounds like you have the tools to nail your niche market already! The CD I posted is actually almost all PODxt...That was before I was swept away by MTS...

Anyway, awesome setup and I'm sure we'll have much to discuss... smile.gif

Thanks. It is my dream room too! Although I spend a lot more time on working on amps than I used to...

What kind of gear do you use?

Well, let's say that my use of the equipment is weird a bit . I have a lot of guitars, you can see them in my lessons, and given that I'm sometimes really lazy, I use software amplifiers for recording. Same with guitars - one that is closest to me will be used for the next record !!! cool.gif smile.gif

I'm thinking about one of these ... http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/Issue/2010/Apr/Digidesign_Eleven_Rack_Review.aspx
A lot of guys out here are using them and though it doesn't make pizza I like the human interface of physical knobs and switches.

@Sinisa - you have A LOT of nice guitars!

I look forward to checking out Sinisa's guit-fiddles!

As for the 11Rack...I have a friend who uses one and knows his gear very well. If you need anything I'm sure he would be willing to help...

I also like the human interface and handling something more than a mouse or touch screen to manipulate...

HI,

I agree that CDBaby is an excellent source for self publishing...

Several songs have been used from that very CD...I sometimes tweak them to meet specifics if requested...My songs have not appeared as theme songs or anything that would be instantly recognizable but they show up in the background with on and off regularity...

My most recent job was writing a piece used on CBS Radio and Fox TV (mainly in Detroit) for the Kwame Kilpatrick (former mayor of Detroit) trial...It's a silly tune that is used as an intro for a couple regularly appearing segments.

And if you want to hear a bit of a retrospective of my older music (including a couple covers for tribute discs)...
