GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Getting Started In The Business...

Posted by: muntahunta Jul 21 2008, 11:49 AM

I have been thinking for a while about starting a vocal career in the music business rather than playing guitar.

the problem with this is that with the exception of starting a band and doing some really bad local gigs where there may be a total of 20 people there (including bands)... i have no idea where to start.

has anyone got any tips on how to get a good reputation and well..... get famous?
just some info that some of you succesful musicians have used to get up there tongue.gif

Be good at what you do. If you can grab people's attention with your singing then you'll get somewhere. If you really are a good vocalist. I haven't heard you and couldn't comment anyway but if you are a great singer then record something stick it on youtube and if it is amazing people will start talking.

Isn't there another season of Idols or X factor to compete in? wink.gif

I think you sing awesome by the way. Heard the thing on youtube and even though it was bad sound quality I really enjoyed it. You sing so passionately that it just makes me jealous! tongue.gif

I have no idea how to really to do it. I guess you just have to follow your heart how cliche that may sound. Perform as much as you can.

Couple of things I want to say:
1. Believe in yourself no matter what they tell you.
2. Just do it, make GMC proud and don't forget to mention us when you're big!
3. Get a better cam biggrin.gif

Edit for language - Smells

Lot of hard work, practice every day and be confident that you are a star, and some day you will be discovered. If you're lucky, you'll make it. smile.gif

I almost hate to say it but it is a little discouraging by the fact that some of our instructors are RIDICULOUS at what they do, but outside of GMC (at least for me, and mainstream media) they are not well known.

somebody needs to come up with another pachelbels canon idea (not the exact song but the whole idea..... you know what I mean) and get famous

Hard work and starting to sing in a band that has potential is a first step!
