Yeah, not to mention that he is playing through 5150EVH amp, that amp is a killer, I had the chance of playing it. Monster tone. You can plug lots of guitars in it and sound great.

The Importance of Volume on Tone
Lot's of factors go in to helping that be case and you can really hear it here. The pickups are really we designed and the body itself has a great deep resonance. Not to mention (as Ivan pointed out) the Spiff EVH amp/head. Here is a really critical bit, he is playing at a volume near the sweet spot of the amp/cone range. As you get really soft/quite or really loud, the signal tends to flatten out a bit and bass/treble are less pronounced and mid range becomes more apparent. Our ears are built this way as well. (At high and low volume, treble give way to middle ranges). So finding the right volume for your own rig/amp is important. Playing above that volume, or below it, can yield less than optimal tone. Here is a link to an article talking about the volume effect on tone from a guitar player perspective for more detail. http://www.mackamps.com/articles/low-volume-guitar-tone-/ So in short, great gear, good playing, correct volume, = spiff tone! The tone on the bass strings of this guitar is just incredible. This post has been edited by Todd Simpson: Nov 23 2011, 10:31 PM |
