Hi Gab,

I am definitely into power metal. I am looking at several lessons here on GMC including some of yours.
I like to listen to that kind of music so it is fun to try to learn this style.

I am struggling a little with the faster parts. Can you suggest some good lessons to improve picking?

I will try to post a video, just need to get things going a little first.

Cheers!

Hi mate! yeah! There are many good power metal lessons here. When you say "picking", do you refer to Alternate Picking? Are you having problems with riffs or solos?

Have you checked my Intensive Technique Course?

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...t=0&start=0

Also I was wondering how your routine is... do you play/practice every day? What do you play?

Hi,
Yes, alternate picking mostly with riffs. Am not practicing soloing so much at the moment.

No. Looks interesting. Will have a look at this next time playing.

Quite a lot to do at work now so I can't practice every day but lets say: 2 hours/day 5 days/week sometimes more.

Hi mate, thanks for the info. We can build a routine for those days that you can practice. 2 hours sounds like a good amount of time. I would use the first hour for technique exercises (ITC + GMC lessons) and the second time for more musical and creative stuff.

HOUR 1:

Warming Up

Alternate Picking

Legato

Vibrato + Bending

HOUR 2:

Rhythm Stuff (GMC lessons)

Theory

Jamming & Composing

What do you think?

Hello,

Yeah, this looks like a good routine. Lets have a go!

Some more info about my playing:
Because of absence of playing, sometimes for several years, I haven't improved so much over the years so I consider my self as almost a beginner in some areas of playing, faster alternate picking is one of these.
As a reference I can learn up to level 3, maybe up to level 4, GMC lessons if I put some real effort into it (depending of course on type of lesson)

I'm having a go at your Wasted Years alternate picking lesson now. This is a nice one!

Cheers!

Jamming & Composing (20 minutes)
Jamming over backing tracks.

I have had a look at this now.

Picking Arpeggios warm up is really nice sounding. A bit tricky to reach some of the chords but that's what practice are for...

Hour one looks perfect, some nice lessons in there.

Hour two:

This one is very cool:

Another one I like is this, I have practiced on this recently:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/German...Metal-VI-Edguy/

I also love this one, but maybe a little to fast for me now. Have tried it at lower bpm 130 or so:

Nice to have a more structured training routine. Really looking forward to this!

Hello!

Still a lot to do at work so I haven't really played as much as I want to do.
Practice time now is more like: 1-2 hours/day 3-4 days/week.

Do you think we should adjust the routine?
