GMC Forum _ Collaborations _ Let's Make A Hit Song Collaboration!

Posted by: Milenkovic Ivan Jan 8 2008, 08:24 PM

OK guys here it is. I've uploaded backings for the participants so far. Every participant has their own backing, so be sure to download only your OWN backing for the song.

Important!

- The song is in Cmajor (Aminor) tonality.
- The backings have 4 click intro on the start. You don't need to play over it, it is just a marker for you when the part starts.
- Post the part with the backings and solo guitar separately.
- Some parts will be looped so be careful to end them in a decent way.
- Think about the parts you are playing and try to play something that will be good for that particular part of the song. These part are not too long - about 15 seconds each.
-And above all, do it in your style smile.gif

The backings are in the attachment section, each one has its part of the song name and the name of a member who is doing it.

Since no oen wanted to do the main riff slot, I'll do it myself, and upload here in the next 30 minutes or so, so the rest of the participants can do their work too. Thanks for patience. smile.gif

Great guys, this song is slowly but firmly growing! smile.gif

Posted by: AudunESP Jan 13 2008, 12:38 AM

hey! i got some posibly verse melody and lyrics.
i can't record right now, so i just want to show you the lyrics.
what you think?
this is meant to be just one of the verses.

"i might be soft on the outside
but inside, im hard as stone
was never one of the big guys
but i got rock to the bone(s)

my beasty eyes seek a pathway
ready to go i'm overload(ed)
strap my guitar and i head'way
now lets hit the road"

well the lyrics are suposed to mean: "whoever you are, you can ROCK! just follow your dreams"

EDIT: heres a guitarpro file, so you can get the idea smile.gif
just added it to the intro riff. since i don't think we have a verse? or is the main riff suposed to be the verse? Works fine over that too:)
EDIT no.2: got an arrangemend idea! maybe the "verse over intro" as i made it in GP5 would make a perfect cooled-down spot between the bridge and the last chorus?
EDIT no.3: the GP5 file now consist with both main riff and intro backing, and the rythm in the melody is now correct:)

Thats great man! SO will you do some vocals? smile.gif

Posted by: AudunESP Jan 13 2008, 10:50 PM

sure! thought i already was listed up as vocals: )
Would be cool if someone, one or more could do backing vocals.
heard that Maria does a nice choir thing and i've heard kris do some nice screams.
anyway i definetively need someone who could harmonize in a higher pitch smile.gif

SUre man, I'll edit the main post right now wink.gif You're in!

Posted by: Iluha Jan 15 2008, 05:26 PM

Hmm okay so since there's allready a vocal idea, I think it would be best for me to wait till vocals are done before I do my part, or is my part(main theme) seperate from the vocals?

Posted by: Cuchulain Jan 15 2008, 05:26 PM

A bit later then I expected (busy social life sometimes biggrin.gif), but here's my contribution.

I'm afraid it came out a bit different then I expected, so I felt the need to add a simple lead line (to emphasise the rhythm) over the back. Feel free to get rid of that, I just think it's a bit empty without it.

I'll probably come up with a few more options in a day or two, but since I was already later then I said I would, just had to post this first ^^

edit: oh yeah, it's in wav because I can't get that stupid mp3converter working on vista sad.gif

Hey man Iluha, main theme is sepparate from the vocals, so you can do it straight away if you want. The sooner the better!

Posted by: Iluha Jan 18 2008, 02:32 PM

Okay so here is the main theme, I might change it once there's more parts submitted though to make it more fitting to the song smile.gif

Hey are all the parts of this collab taken?

Posted by: Milenkovic Ivan Feb 19 2008, 07:04 PM

Well no, you can do the chorus fills (something neutral that will go along with the chorus line). Just throw something on top of the chorus if you want to participate and send it to me mixed with the backing that bole posted AND you chorus fills solo.

Posted by: steve25 Feb 19 2008, 07:57 PM

Ok cool i'll give it a go which is the updated file or have you not got to chorus yet?

Posted by: Bogdan Feb 19 2008, 09:37 PM

Steve , take the file that I uploaded just few posts up and play the fills over the chorus (you will hear whats chorus it starts from C)..Record over the one with backing track. When you finish upload your take mixed with the backing track + just your take (dry guitar recording) smile.gif

Cheers wink.gif

Posted by: Milenkovic Ivan Feb 19 2008, 10:50 PM

Bogdan said it right wink.gif Just use his backing and record two versions and uplaod them, one with and one without a backing. smile.gif

Posted by: steve25 Feb 19 2008, 11:14 PM

Damn, i've just broken a string and i don't have another pack :/, best get someone else to do it lol

laugh.gif That means you tried hard wink.gif

Posted by: Milenkovic Ivan Feb 20 2008, 05:23 PM

Well record something without a string wink.gif

Posted by: steve25 Feb 20 2008, 06:58 PM

Ok i got new strings today so i can record the chorus lead part for you if you want me to but i'll understand if you got someone else. By the way the tracks pretty good so far but not done C before so going to be tough =]

Posted by: Milenkovic Ivan Feb 20 2008, 10:22 PM

well, you can use Aminor pentatonic scale for some fills. smile.gif

Posted by: steve25 Feb 20 2008, 10:55 PM

You wanted a lead part for the chorus?(~1:05) I thought that was C

Posted by: Milenkovic Ivan Feb 21 2008, 03:05 AM

Whatever you want man! smile.gif

Posted by: steve25 Feb 21 2008, 06:52 PM

Ok sorry i didn't mean to cause any confusion. I've started having a go at it today and i've got something down on recording but don't know if i'm happy with it yet. It sounds more like a sort of solo rather than just a lead to go over the top but i'll see what i can come up with

Posted by: Milenkovic Ivan Feb 21 2008, 08:31 PM

OK, keep trying and even if you don't feel satisfied with the first recording, please send us. Maybe we like it smile.gif
