I absolutely agree. You can't force inspiration, sometimes it is MUCH better to just stop for the day and restart on the next morning.

Very true, inspiration comes and goes by itself. It's arrival or departure cannot be controlled in any way. The only thing musician can do is to keep the inspiration flowing while it lasts.

This one you can't control! If you feel inspired go for the composing as much as you can ! But than again , its good to review old ideas at different times to see if you can make them even better !

Great tip...it's strange but it's true, sometimes take some day off it's better than play the whole day.

Excelent tip. You don't have to force if it isn't the correct moment. Sometimes I just need a few hours but frequently I have to give it up and continue the following day.

Very useful tip!
I have a couple of ways of "artificially" getting inspiration - and they are usually pretty simple: listening/watching or reading about other musicians. This works also for me. Talking with other musicians/friends about what they are doing in that moment can help too. -------------------- ::: Main Gear ::: Guitars: Washburn N4 Vintage | Washburn N2 | Washburn WI67Pro | Washburn WG-587 | Washburn EA20B Amps: Laney GH50L (head) | Laney GS410 & GS212IE (cabinets) | Rocktron PROGAP Ultra (rack preamp) | Rocktron Velocity 150 (power amp) | Marshall VS230 (combo) FXs: Rocktron Intellifex + custom pedalboard (check my video demo) Other: Shredneck | Intellitouch PT10 tuner Picks: Esseti Picks Software & Recording Gear: Cubase 4 | Overloud TH1 | Mackie Onyx 400F | EZdrummer | Korg Pandora PX4D ------------------------------------------------------- myspace.com/jerryarcidiacono Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |
