Hello folks, first REC take, lot of stage fright as I haven't done one for a while. I really noticed some of the bends, in particular one of the first ones in the solo was way off, I noticed while I was playing which I never used to, only on playback had I used to notice. Anyway, I ran out of time, this is not the best I have played it but after a few takes making REC button mistakes I was getting stressed. I posted it anyway so you can give me some advice. It sounds a little rushed in places to me too. Please don't worry about the score, I'd rather get a 3 then, 4 then , 5 then, 6 than 3 5s then a 6 ;) Thank you for your time :)

Yeah Phil - neat choice of lesson! This one is heavy yet groovy & cool sounding - without any over-the-top techniques.

There are two main things preventing this take from being enjoyable to the ear.

* Bending: as you pointed out you are often out of pitch. I think you know how to deal with this, so it probably just needs to more practicing to tackle stage fright and to consolidate muscle movement.

* The chords for the first part seem fine to me, however the connecting, faster, single note lines are off rhythmically. This problem requires the same remedy as #1. Practcie way below your comfort speed and think about being relaxed in your arms and hands.

Also you guitar is a bit loud compared to the backing (maybe because of lower frequencies in your sound that need to be dialed out) - this makes mistakes very obvious - and affects the listeners impression.

You get a 4 from me. If you focus on the above you should be able to turn this into a really neat take.

I think that you've done two wise desicions. The first is working on this lesson that I think is great for you. The second one is to record and share this take as a part of the learning process.

Kris has already marked the main things to improve on this one. I know that you can do it better on both the chord changes and those bends so I recommend you to keep on practicing every day and recording yoursellf, as well as sharing takes here.

Great you decided to share your take with us. This can halp to avoid some issues at the learning process!

I think you got the draft of this lesson. You know where to place your fingers and how the phrases go rhytmically. Now it's time to get into details.

1. Need to calm a little in the rhyhtm part. You tend to rush and loose these few quicker notes, that repeat constantly in the riff section. At 0:18 for exmaple

2. Tuning. You need to spend more time on tuning process. There are some obvious pitch issues not related to bends (which are separate problem). at 0:22 there's a perefect example.

3. Bends - try a different playback conditions - headphones, different volume, different proportion of backing track and solo. Experiment with tuner being on while you play the lesson. There is definitely some kind of ear training needed to make these bends sound in tune. It can be partially affected by how you hear the track so let's start from listening perspective.


4.Timing - in general you dig the slower notes but every faster runs causes timing slips.

I belive this lesson can give you lot's of useful skills as long as you won't pass on it too early. You're on the good path now and keep all the good work. We're here to help you
