Which is better? It seems like Live LE has some artificial limitations, but I got a $50 coupon (it's $150 total) for it with the nanokey I just bought. I was wondering if it was worth the switch?

I don't know , for home recording - I think that the Reaper is better! I would stick with it... Ableton live is not that easy to learn how to use, and I think its intended for live use (backings playback, samples etc)...

As far as I understand Ableton is made to play around with live music, for DJ's and other live type of shows.
I'm positive it's also good for recording but I belive Reaper will be more "logical" and easy to use for yout purpose.

I agree with Bogdan and MickeM, Reaper is better both function and price wise.

Well guys,

I just tried Ableton Live LE 7 because I was getting pretty tired of Reaper and I must say that I am probably going to buy Ableton. smile.gif

It's waaaay easier to use. There is great keyboard shortcuts, it's fast and easy to use, a nicer interface, very nice midi editor (Reaper's one is crap) and many more things that make it very cool.

Yeah, it's for live. But it works very well for recording. Plus you can easily create guitar loops and add drums and whatever you want.

For me Reaper is really unintuitive. I tried Sequel, Reason and many others but I never felt as comfortable as with Ableton.

From my point of view Ableton is great. smile.gif

I preferred Abelton's helpful approach and I didn't see anything that made it "intended" to work with live music. It was incredibly easy to record.

If it works for you, I see no reason why not getting it then mate. Everybody has different preferences, and although I gave my vote to Reaper, well any DAW is good if in good hands. Abletone always had a good compatibility with MIDI controllers, and I think you will get the best of it with Nanokeys.
