This Christmas morning I have proposed to Stacie, my girlfriend of 20 yrs, and she has accepted! 
I was pretty sure she would say yes but I was nervous just the same.
We have had our ups and downs over the years like most couples I think and she has stuck by me when times were tough. But at this time I believe our relationship is as strong or stronger than it ever has been and we are long past due in making it official.
I love her with all my heart and look forward to spending the rest of our lives together, for better or for worse.
We were introduced by the singer of the band I was playing in back in the winter of 95'. We went to catch the last set of the band she was singing with after our last set was over. When I walked into the club I saw, and definitely heard her singing the sh*t out of Rock and Roll and I mean just killing it!
She was wearing high heels and black and white "cat in the hat stockings." 
Just a little thing at maybe 100 pounds but man, the pipes on that girl!
Steve, the singer in our band introduced us after she finished her set and we hit it off immediately and talked at the club until it closed and then went out for breakfast. We have been together for the vast majority of the time since except for a couple rocky patches that ended up making our relationship stronger in the long run and I am grateful to have met her and for the time I have had with her up until now.

Congratulations Rich. Man! I thought I took a long time to get married, 8 years it took me but you;ve knocked that outta the ball park.

Thanks Phil! Yeah after that long together, getting married at this point isn't going to change things too dramatically.
It's long overdue though.

Huge congrats Rich!!!! I always said that it's better to build a solid foundation before to make the big step. In 20 years you definitely had enough time to build a truly bunker, so you can't have bad surprises I wish you a lot of happy years together!!!!

20 yrs is a great achievement. If a relationship hasn't had rocky patches then it's not a relationship - it's what you learn whilst overcoming the hard times that makes you stronger together.

Thank you so much everyone for all of the well wishes and congratulations. I really appreciate it. I'll let everyone know when we have decided on a wedding date, most likely some time this coming summer.
