That was interesting to watch. That first guitar he is playing has like 27 frets! I can see why it is hard for him to choose which guitar to play sometimes.

I listened to the solo warm up video, he's a very clean player. Makes it look so easy

Is it a sin in these forums to utter the words "I don't enjoy Steve Vai's style so much" ? I mean he is obviously a brilliant guitar player but he uses too much whammy bar for my taste

Nothing's a sin when it comes to personal taste in music.. you're allowed to think and feel exactly what you want

I enjoyed Steve's song to some extent, although I think that him and Joe have stopped making memorable music for some time... For me Joe Satriani, spoke his last memorable lines in 2003 - If I could fly, if I am not mistaken is a great song, but after the album on which this was featured, I haven't been hooked in any way by anything he did composition wise.
As for Steve - I enjoyed that song called Building the Church from the 2005 album, but Alive in an ultra world, was really the last great one for me.
They are fantastic players, but somehow they don't make mindblowing music anymore - for me at least...

Middle age seems to do that to a musician

Good entry. I'm now thinking on any musician that has kept creating mindblowing music during their whole musical career.... any ideas?

But how do we truly know that for sure ? All the famous classical guys will have many pieces that were lacklustre and very formulaic.. we know the famous pieces. Most of those guys composed literally hundreds of pieces... there would have been a lot of average stuff in there
Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Jun 28 2012, 07:06 PM
True very true indeed !

I know - TOol they have released a few albums, but ALL of them are brilliant
Posted by: Bossie Jun 29 2012, 07:51 AM
guess you should make an album when you have something to say..not because the music industry wants you something to say..

Totally.. unfortunately it's hard to get around that if you are actually signed but if you're more independent then yeah, art comes when it comes

True indeed - but I am still wondering, what about Tool? They are a big name and also Deftones, they have never released weak albums out of what I know..

What about Opeth ? I don't have their earliest albums but they seem to have always kept moving, keeping it fresh

How about Lady Gaga ? She's done 2 albums of seemingly solid classics that have been well received ?
Ok, I'll get my coat.

Thing is, you have a point! Just because it's not to our taste!
I'll get my coat too and meet you in the Corridor!
As for the original topic..... I really like that Kiko track, as Gabe mentioned Full Blast was a great piece of work and I look forward to hearing this new album!
As for Steve? What can you say, it was very....er.....um..... Steve Vai!!
