Just got me a Way Huge Pork Loin biggrin.gif got it used and saved about £45. its in perfect condition.
had a quick play with it tonight and even running it before my pod it sounds great! Gonna be awesome when I get my new amp cool.gif

Im planning on getting a few analog pedals to play though the amp. I thought it would be a good experiment seeing as my setup is currently all digital.

I was thinking about adding a TS808 and have the Bonamassa pork loin / TS808 combo. I also like the mxr analog delay, it sounds good and I really like the modulation option because it's got that tape echo vibe to it which is cool

I was looking at fuzz pedals and was keen on the WH swollen pickle until I saw the Earthshaker Hoof.... that sounds amazing and Im lead to believe it works well on a quieter amp so that would be great.

so, yeah... way huge pork loin is awesome cool.gif and Im probably gonna be pennyless by this time next year!

Sweet smile.gif

When I recently sold my Big Muff Pi that I hadn't used in twenty years I tested it first and I couldn't believe the "feel" you get. I'm no hot guitarist but I plugged it into my valve head and could've strummed away all night smile.gif

Enjoy it mate wink.gif

Man, a 20 year old big muff would have been awesome! Ive been tempted to get one myself. I kinda feel they are best suited to a bit of volume but I think they are great pedals.

dude, have you been able to get your hands on any earthshaker devices yet? I thought the 'Hoof' sounded the best ( for what Im looking for ) it seems really controllable fuzz. all their stuff seems very good though.

Sorry probably the one thing I haven't played much or thought about is fuzz, I guess its a shredder thing as they don't seem to do well with shred or me liking drive thats clear like strumming a chord and still being able to hear the strings individually. I definitly want one for some ideas I have in mind but it just hasn't been its turn yet smile.gif

Earthquaker though pretty much everything they do is shooting for an original sound, makes me feel its a total win or loss with every demo I heard. Its really cool but I'd be coutious on atleast what amp I'm using.

As for fuzz in general, though I never investigated some prefer to make their own fuzz like using a distortion pedal inside a driven amp but keep in mind the amp does have a lot to do with this. As for the pedals, just like overdrives they can sound very different. I can only recommend to make the research open minded like check the classics too or maybe there are some fuzz tests on youtube with your amp used.

Congrats!! smile.gif Nice Pedal!! I went away from pedals for a while and now I"m back to them smile.gif I find myself rummaging through the pedal section everytime I'm at a music store. Just got that Krank overdrive a bit back. Won't fit on my Furhman board as it's full. I need a bigger board smile.gif

I've got pedals on the front end of my 11 rack and a tube preamp in the fx loop. I never thought that would be the case smile.gif

Yeah Earthquaker, that's what I meant to type rolleyes.gif not earthshaker LOL! most of the demos Ive seen tend to focus on the doomy sludge sounds but Its better with the volume rolled back on the guitar and you get a more manageable Gilmour / Trower type of thing. That would be what Im aiming for.

I thought the tube preamp would go before the amp, I take it that its much better in the loop?

No prob. smile.gif try searching for blues related fuzz demo's, I'm sure this will help.

Seriously though, I love mine and it's at least 25 - 30 years old now. I bought it 2nd hand in 92!

the more mature 30 year old big muff would definitely be the gentlemans choice, it would just play better cool.gif
I kinda want to buy one now purely because of the name!

I know Bonamassa has a fuzz face on his board, Im not sure which songs he uses it for but Ive not been blown away by the FF demos ive seen.
I thought this was one of the best Hoof demos Ive seen, also he plays Human Behavior by Bjork which is a win right there smile.gif

I'm already regretting selling mine and I never used to use it, it was a pre '78. I tested it before putting it on Ebay and it was amazing through my Blackstar valve head. Got £167 initially but then the buyer said it wasn't totally original as the knobs weren't Bakelite, one of the capacitors had been changed, the tracing on the board had been run over with solder, the pedal switch wasn't original and I had changed the battery clip. We came to an agreement for a £25 partial refund. I'm still a winner though as the pedal was given to me about 20 years ago. smile.gif

I tried it several ways and it's waaaaaaay better in the fx loop smile.gif And you can turn it on and off with midi!!! It's just the fx loop block in the preset. So you can add it in for a boost or replace the preamp/head in the preset with it. Which is hat I do smile.gif

Here it is in the FX loop and I have the preamp/amp module turned OFF in the preset. So the real tube preamp is acting like the amp block. I'm using the cabinet sim inside the 11 rack and some fx inside. The only external is the myasnikov tube preamp.

My main 'go to' pedals are my Zooms. Made in the early 90's. All chained in front of the Amp, then I have whatever Modulation and Delay set in the FX Loop of the Amp.
I use 2 PD-01 (Powerdrive) similar to a Tubescreamer.

The first one set just as a Boost and the second as an Overdrive

I have an HL-01 (Hyper Lead) for a real boost for leads

And for more 'Rocky' rythym playing I use a TM-01 (Tri Metal)

I also have the final member of the collection which is the UF-01 (Ultra Fuzz) which is very similar to the Big Muff!

I've seen these sell for crazy money over the years because of their rarity but they do crop up on ebay from time to time.
I heartily recommend them!!

the power drive sounds sexy cool.gif
The fuzz is quite mega. great sustain on it. I imagine it cleans up well with the volume on the guitar? It sounds like it would anyways.

They are and they do!! Seriously, I've loved them since the first time I used them. I've had many different Multi FX Units over the years and loads of different Stomps but since these a lot of gear has been tucked away and doesn't really see much use at all!

The Power Drive is one of my favourite Drive pedals ever, even compared to some of the more 'boutique' ones of today. I rate them far beyond a Tubescreamer anyday! As I said, I'd highly recommend them and if you find them anywhere for less than £100 I'd snap them up immediately!
As for the Fuzz, yeah it cleans up really nicely, better than my MUff does, yik, yik!!! ohmy.gif
