Actually, yes, I came across the post discussing it a few days ago and thought it was a great idea, then wondered where it was ...

The theory board we had was merged with the main board a couple of weeks a go.

This was a result of very little activity on the board (only 10-20 posts) since it opened, which was many months ago I believe.

I would be happy to open it up again if we can have some active moderation/posting on it. Let me know if any of you is willing to spend some time and effort on such a board!

I wish I could but I'm still having trouble with the theory behind "twinkle twinkle little star" laugh.gif

thanks Kris

Yes sorry guys, other commitments mean that I can't spend as much time on here as I'd like. Also I'm by no means an expert on theory, it's just a part of music that interest me, as I tend to write music that's not guitar based.

I will keep an eye on the main board and if I find any posts I can answer, I'll be happy to throw my two pennys worth in.

I'd love to see the theory board opened up again, it's something I've been really getting into lately.

I certainly wouldn't mind being a moderator even though I don't know what a moderator really does wink.gif. I do understand that I haven't been around GMC for long and you would probably be more comfortable with someone you have known longer doing the job.

In terms of theory, I would probably be asking more questions than I answered, but if by active moderation you mean introducing a question, writing an informative post or starting a discussion once in a while I'd be up for that - theory does interest me as I got a reasonable amount at school and have picked up some more along the way, and need to learn a lot more!

I guess though as it was a low volume board you were probably right to remove it - but if you change your mind, the offer is there!

Hey, maybe I could post a lesson for Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - I bet I could manage the playing for that with some practice wink.gif

I can offer my moderation services as well. I know some theory but not a whole lot but I have some experience of moderating forums from before. Mostly smaller forums but still.

I guess my biggest advantage is that I can access the forum almost 24/7 since I study by computers and studying sucks wink.gif

Also I am currently picking up a bit of theory tutorials on the internet and learning. I had an idea about a theory thread that I was gonna kick alive too soon but if you're gonna open the theory board again I will post it then.

Cheers

I'm sure we could both be moderators if Kris agrees - the content is more important than the moderation, and if we both have ideas that's cool! I'm thinking of the occasional theory lesson in which people post videos of scales, chords etc so so people can see/hear how these things work out, rather than just totally dry discussions (although those are fun too!)

I also have good online access - I work in computers and I'm pretty much online all the time. Also, I'm in a different timezone, so we can get more coverage that way!

Oh, and now I think about it, I did once moderate a forum for a company I started - 3 different boards, zero posts in each wink.gif

Anyway, whatever Kris decides is fine with me.

Totally. I don't really care who does it as long as someone does it. I really would like the theory board back tongue.gif

Well there seems to be quite some interest! smile.gif looks like we are going to re-open it for a test period!

Who else is interested in contributing to this board?

Basically we wouldn't have any moderators in the beginning we would just put it up to see what kind of activity we can get going.

Kris

I doubt I could contribute anything, but I've been wanting to learn music theory as it relates to the guitar for a few months now.

Every board needs that one guy who knows nothing to ask all the questions though cool.gif

Yes opening the theory board up again would help me out quite a bit because that's really what i'm going to be studying for a while now. I would participate in the forums quite a lot. I don't know too much about theory but i've got plenty of questions to ask!
