From these takes - I can see a relaxed and patient approach to practicing technique - which definitely will pay off.

After hunting high and low I finally found GMC, the best online guitar self-teaching resource out there! High quality lessons, fun to play, amazing instructors. I'll definitely be sticking around.

wish you luck with the Petrucci lesson
For me the hardest part was to make the melody flow, e.g. do not prematurely end the note in order to get to the next one. My first several (read: 50) attempts all sounded pretty staccato.Cheers,
