Here is the chord progression of that lesson:
Am - Bb/A (that's Bb with A on bass...)
Gm - Bb
Dm - C
Bb - Am
All the chords are "extracted" from the mode you are working on. You are right, you should harmonize the mode you are working with with the root, 3rd, 5th and 7th (if you want) starting from each note of the mode.
That will give you the 7 chords you can use to create the backing track.
As you can see, I often keep the bass of the modal key you work with to emphasize the color of the mode.
