GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ New Year's Resolutions

Posted by: Gitarrero Dec 29 2010, 11:50 AM

Hi guys,

well, the old year is almost over, many people start making some new year's resolutions. While they never really worked out for me in the last years, I decided to try it once again, cause this time I feel like I've got much more control over my life than in the past and I already started to do a few things, so it won't be a cold start on January, 1st. My resolutions are guitar and life oriented.
Feel free to add yours!

Practice at least one hour of guitar each day with a practice routine (AP, legato, one new lesson/song per week)
Record an album with 10 songs, including vocals
Finish a half marathon this summer
Train for the half marathon 3 to 4 times a week
Go to the gym 3 times a week
Lose the gut (that's a classic, right wink.gif )
Find a new/better job
Spend quality time with my friends
Get a tattoo (already got the date for it smile.gif )
Resist any offers of coming back to her my Ex might make
Try new things, be open minded, and enjoy life

Since I am already practicing guitar with a plan for two weeks now, I already have recorded some stuff for an album and I am consistently working out and jogging for a couple of weeks now (despite the weather), I feel like I will really stick with my plans.

I'll keep you guys updated (on the musical part of my plans, since the other stuff won't be too interesting for you I suppose).

So, what are your plans for 2011?

Christian

Hope you'll manage a few of those smile.gif That was a good idea to make so many, you can still feel good about yourself even if you fail some or most of them if you ony pull one through. Like the tatoo was already set so 2011 is more or left safe smile.gif

I'm not making any for myself. Perhaps I'm too close to perfection ohmy.gif ...or got too many flaws to even make it worth while to improve anything wink.gif
So perhaps my promise would be to not make any promises for the coming year.

1 hour per day won't be good enough for a lesson per week, unless You practice lessons that are too easy:P Otherwise good set, I won't post mine yet, have to think about them more:P

"Resist any offers of coming back to her my Ex might make"

That which you resist, persists

If you really wanna achieve that, don't make it a resolution and completely forget about it.

Myself I want to get back to my girl heheh

Cool to see all your resolutions guys!
I'll make mine one of these days too.

Posted by: Sollesnes Dec 31 2010, 08:09 PM

I don't really make new year resolutions, as I make them all year around for shorter periods,
but allright.

By this time next year I will have
- finished my instrumental demo.
- started up my new band and gotten that up and going.
- gotten in better shape
- been eating less red meat (for the environment)

If I am exactly like I am now, but with those goals done, I will be pleased with the year.
What happents if I fail? Of course, those are goals that I don't exactly plan on failing, but then I just add those to what my goals next year would be if I had made them. So if I end up being lazy this year (2011), I will have to do one hell of a good job in 2012. biggrin.gif

- Give lots of love to my girl (cheesy mode off! tongue.gif).
- Study hard.

Happy new year guys!

I have one major resolution: Completely overcome the fear of failure. I will approach everything in life with gusto and not even consider the consequences of failure.

Improve my bending/vibrato and shredding accuracy A LOT and pick up my singing again (I guess improving it will be for 2012).

Posted by: Fran Jan 4 2011, 02:18 PM

- Keep improving my playing, start learning some famous song solos and not just the rhythm/riffing (Lots of room for that laugh.gif)
- Definitely quit smoking (I only smoke a cigarrete now and then on weekends so that will be easy!)

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Jan 4 2011, 03:39 PM

biggrin.gif alright let's see:

- release an EP with each of my bands
- sign an endorsement deal with PRS
- have at least 4 gigs a month
- become one of the most active people at GMC
- start practicing iaido
- learn how to take care of my bonsai and maybe, buy another 5 of them to be able to make a little Japanese garden
- get my driving licence biggrin.gif
- get to spend at least a day with a special someone who's very far away from me right now
