Hi Gabriel

I recently began to record my practice sessions.Over all not terrible, but
not great either.I use my laptop, and it picks up everything.String muting is not
a problem far as I can tell. The problem is when I move up and down the fretboard.
Its the noise that fingers make when they are dragged down the string from one
position to another. For lack of a better term,a sreech sound.I have heard this sound
on some professional recordings. One that comes to mind is some STAIND songs
when AARON LEWIS plays guitar. How can I eliminate this problems?

Hi Lee! I know what you are talking about. This noise is very common and you can quiet it a bit if you change your equalization. You should atenuate a bit the highs with the eq. However you could try to avoid the slide when you change the different chords while you are recording.
This problem sometimes is used artistically in acoustic songs, so I think that's why Staind uses it in some of their songs.
