GMC Forum _ REC _ Beginner's Corner2: Open Chords Cover

Hey guys,

As I said, I'll keep posting new videos as I continue practising. I'm a "big time beginner" so your comments will be golden to me. My first opinion was just to practise level 1 videos but now my goal is to cover level 1 through level 3 videos. I think I can play up to level 3 with some brave attitude:) Anyway, for this video I couldn't get the exact rhythm at first and it took 2-3 hours to practise. I'm still not sure if I copied the exact same strumming as Mr. Bear Rose, but I'll be happier if I can play truely with a different style. It wouldn't be that exciting if I played exact the same would it? My further target is to be able to reach level 4-6 but first of all I need to prove that I'm a "good beginner student". Enough said I guess, again thank you for your support.

Hi Tolga, another good take. Maybe it isn't 100% exactly the same as Bear played it but the overall feel is right. You've got good timing and you change between the chords well. As time progresses and you get better, the chord changes will be even more seamless and quick. I think Bear would be really pleased to see that you've grasped the basis of his lessons

P.S. Maybe put your camera closer to your laptop so it picks up the backing track a bit better.. you don't need to capture all of you in the camera shot, as long as your hands and guitar are visible

Just try to minimize the gap where you play the open strings,

I think you should move on to the next lesson,

Very good job with this one.

I order to keep the timing properly, I advise that you keep 16th note motion with your strumming hand, and just strum when needed. The way you do it now is you make your hand stiff, and actually create problems with timing.

Ivan is right, you should move your hand in the air along with the 16th notes pulse and tap your foot on the quarter notes maybe I am repeating myself but, your internal metronome should be developed with every chance you get. Tapping your foot is always a good method

I'm sure you'll go a step further in your overall playing once you manage to feel the pulse of a groove.
